Probably the best way to start is from the very beginning, when we met, September 4th 1995. Everyone loves "Love stories" and we are very proud to have a very cool one to show off.... I am Mexican and have lived in my country for most of my life, and Yves is Swiss!!! And has also resided there for the most part. So you might wonder how, or should I say where on Earth did we meet.... Mexico City (not to wacky) but wait... in an
E L E V A T O R.

Talk about destiny! I wasn't even supposed to be there at that hour and he was just so handsome.... and it was the only time he visited that building in all his 6-month stay in Mexico. For me it was absolutely LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. I have to admit it took me a while to believe it even if it was as clear as Alpine water in my heart. He says he doesn't really remember that moment clearly...(Or so he says) But he does remember when I invited him to a MEXICANTO concert a couple of days later...and then, it was his turn to fall.... in love.

From then on we had a blast together. He got to know my family and friends that live throughout MEXICO. And they are really great people...I miss them so. We traveled and partied and fell for each other....

After dating for a while things got really serious...it was obvious for everyone but we didn't think much about it until his mother, Agnes, made a remark about marriage...Then she went to Mexico for Christmas and....said to my father, Javier: I think my son is very much in love with your daughter"... My father's reaction: flushing and muteness. Of course he couldn't believe I had finally found a descent man, that is, after all the characters I dated before.

January came and Yves went back to Switzerland (not Swaziland or Sweden as most people tend to confuse) and left me all alone... but I caught up with him in Nyon, his home town, I visited for a month (there went all my car savings. Quite a good investment all in all) I got to know some of his friends and family, we toured Europe, went to Austria, Hungary and Italy. Visited Venice amongst many other towns...need I say how romantic it was.

We even got engaged (on a train to Budapest).... Just seven months after we met. No engagement ring but a beautiful Pre-engagement ring Yves gave me in Venice...Needles to say, it was enough to send the wedding bug around and have everyone quiz me about my future plans. That, as far as I was concerned, was to far away in time to take it so seriously.

NEW YORK ... After 5 months of long distance relationship, we decided it was time to do something about it. Yves was going to work at Shearman and Sterling (law firm) in NYC as of September 96 so I got busy and got myself a JOB (Rizzo Research and Marketing) to be close to the man I was to marry. (I really think distance is not good at all when you are thinking of marriage and very specially if you have such different backgrounds. Relationships are fragile as it is... why push it.) It was, I must admit, a trying time. But to my opinion, very healthy. We went through every adjusting phase in the book. We argued, drifted appart, drifted back toghether. But never stoped loving each other, I must say my love and admiration for this man exceeded by far my wildest dreams. And when we felt strong enough we started moving on with our marriage arrangements, and of course getting all the best this unique city had to offer

It all started...
