Yves and Elena

November 8th, 1997
Hacienda Cocoyoc.
Cocoyoc, Morelos.
MEXICO

We finally got married. It was a beautiful day and everything was perfect.  Almost all our family and friends were there.
We had the ceremony at the small chapel in the hacienda. Elena arrived by chariot with her father Javier and her brother Javier Jr.
Father Miguel Carmena L. C, a good friend of ours presided the ceremony. He gave a beautiful speech full of kindness and humor.
The best man was Andrea Rusca; he was responsible for the rings.
The lectures were read by Christian Newenshwander in French and Maru Bojorquez in Spanish, and Javier Quintero Jr. read the community prayer.
The brides maids, Paulina Quintero and Gaby Quinzanos were in charge of the Lazo (a Mexican tradition in which the bride and groom have a lazo set on their shoulders around both of them symbolizing the union of husband and wife).
Ale Quintero was in charge of the Arras (another Latin tradition which symbolizes the promise the husband and wife make to earn and administer in the best way possible the goods of the family).
Mariana de Teresa de Salem was in charge of the flower Bouquet.
Karla Munuzuri de Fernandez was in charge of the Bouquet we offered to the Virgin of Guadalupe to thank her for our union.
The mother of the bride sang Luciano Pavarottis "Ave Maria" with a quartet.
They also played the music of The Mission.
The witnesses were Pablo and Gaby Oria Prado, and Ramon Olea.

After the ceremony we had a banquet at the Espuelas garden in the hacienda Cocoyoc. To the music of a Trio that played boleros.
Menu: Spinach salad with nuts. Lomo de res a la naranja. Wedding cake.
And chilaquiles for midnight.
The music for our first dance was I finally found someone by Barbara Strisand and Brian Adams, sung by the mother of the bride Elena Oria and Paulina her sister.
Followed by Love is all around us by Wet wet wet. And Codo a codo.
We danced for hours, and had a great time.
At night the DJ left and the Mariachis arrived and Yves received his wedding present from Elena. FIREWORKS!!! (Literally).

We left for our honeymoon in Indonesia and Australia (7 weeks).

8 months later...Swiss wedding.
