Logfile from Elehu

Aquatic Adoration (#21067)
A small, snuggly little grotto of a weyr rests here, shelves lining the right-hand wall. Various nick-knacks decorate the shelves, drawing some unconsciously to take a closer look. The size of this weyr does not allow anything larger than a blue, in all practicality, and certainly would not allow more than one dragon to be present at the same time. But neither occupant seems to mind, both being on the small size of their species. Human bed and draconic couch rest against the left wall, bright and inviting. And that's another aspect of this weyr: Glowbaskets illuminate even the farthest corners, leaving nothing to dark mystery. Mural-in-process decorates the back wall, promising to be pretty with the paint containers and brushes littering the floor nearby. A small, circular table and three stools rest on a teal, roundish rug in the center-back of the weyr. On the table can be found klah, mugs, and tray of something, ever-present and fresh, just /waiting/ for company, it seems. The rest of the floor is immaculately swept, disarray only present on some of the shelves and in the far back, actually. Not very inviting for the creepier, crawlier walks of life. Even with all this going on, the weyr gives off an almost unarguable feeling of cozy homey-ness.
Hiding among the shelves are Yukimiko, Ou, and Kishuku.
Green Issryuith is here.
Hiza is here.
Obvious exits:
Ledge

Hiza (#20694)
Not even reaching a full five Terran feet(4'9, really), this usually cheerful woman can only be classified as short. She is more cute than pretty, with an oval face, sharp-yet-soft nose, strong chin, and thin, rosy lips. Round, fern-green eyes are expressive, framed by thick lashes and thin eyebrows. Skin is pale from a lifetime inside, and contrasts with the deep onyx of her hair noticeably. Bangs cut choppily across her forehead, reaching unevenly to her 'brows. Dark hair falls in a straight curtain almost to her petite shoulders, framing her face, though adding a childish look to her. The greenrider is built slightly, muscles becoming athletic and well formed with the increase of activity, curves still just barely there. Though full grown, her height and build remain nearly identical to what they were at twelve, sparkle in her eyes and wide grin oft adding to this effect.
Bundled, indeed, is this rider. But in an absolutely lovely ensemble of lilac. Sleek is the leather that hugs her form just enough to be deemed revealing, as color gradiates into a darker lavender. Sleeves are looser than bodice of the jacket, tucked out at the ends to reveal the soft, white fur the item is lined with. Opening cuts diagonally across her best, kept together with darker purple buttons, or left slightly undone. When left open or when her jacket is off, smooth white-tinted-purple undershirt is revealed, almost caressing Hiza's body. Matching leather pants hug at barely-there hips and flare to the ground, revealing sturdy riding boots. A ribbon holding charms, Dusty Grey Necklace is worn with love and pride. Glittering and treasured, a thin chain hangs an Amethyst Charm about her neck.
Onyx glides with midnight, a double cord, a small tail giving rise to rank. Sr. Weyrling Wingrider, it says, with lovely green ribbon snaking and dancing through to tell of lifemate's color as well.
She is awake, but has been staring off into space for a minute.
Hiza is 20 Turns, 8 months, and 24 days old.

Issryuith (#2009)
Storm-tossed jade sloops along the elegant arcs of this graceful dragonet, gliding in giddy waves of color that swirl silver to refined aqua along every slim and lissome contoured edge. Built sleight but strong, her fathoms deepen from the shimmering sterling nuzzling the inquisitive tip of her muzzle to the fey curves of her willfull, willowy tail. Each artistic neckridge is crested in sun-wrought gold, rising into filigrees of pale carrageenin that web and lighten the sea-deep green of wings whose mainsails flutter as wild and free as the life atwinkling in her jeweled gaze.
A soft, subtle teal loops once around between forth and fifth gold-kissed 'ridges, the leather smooth and worked well. Shiney silver loop allows leather to be adjusted as the green hide below continues to grow. A matching buckle joins two halves of straps, paddedd suficently as not to scrape, rub against, or otherwise abraise the hide below. The leather has been doubly reinforced around seems where leather strip meets leather strip. A pretty-if not truly the prettiest on Pern-set of straps, at least for a first try, and at least looks good around Issryuith's neck.
Issryuith is 1 Turn, 3 months, and 5 days old.
She is 38 feet (12m) long, with a wingspan of 63 feet (21m).
Issryuith seems to be listening.

Hiza is still lounging about with no shoes or jacket to speak of, though her lounging is more hovering in the back of the weyr, paintbrush in hand, adding more green to the mural. And so whatever state Elehu is in goes completely unnoticed, rider working on a rendition of lifemate, absorbed in her task. And the lifemate herself is snoozing on her couch comfortably, tail occasionally flicking.

MOO Time: 2001-09-20 19:22:59

Elehu has been curled up, dozing lightly up until now. But finally, she begins to stretch out a bit, yawning softly before she props herself up on one side, eyes going a bit wide as she takes in her surrounds with quite a bit of surprise. Until she sees Hiza, that is. The healer pushes herself the rest of the way up now, smiling as she watches the weyrlings at work. "You're coming along quite well on that, you know," she comments lightly, not wanting to disturb the rider.

Hiza is hopelessly startled, but manages not to blotch anything when she jumps. Turning slightly, she smiles, "Oh, Elehu, I'd almost forgotten you were here." And knowing Hiza, this could be true. But it probably isn't, since Elehu was sleeping in her bed. A look toward her mural and then back at Elehu, "I suppose I am, aren't I?" A shrug and she finishes up the spot she was on, putting down the brushes. "Did you sleep well?" Pause, "You looked so peaceful.. I didn't want to disturb you... and I figured there are other healers in the infirmary... I hope you don't mind I didn't wake you?" Forget that Hiza's not been up to long herself.

Elehu draws her knees up to her chest as she hugs them loosely, still just smiling and rather contentedly at that. "Sleep well?" she asks, amusement as obvious in her tone as the bright-eyed look given Hiza. "I don't believe I've slept quite that well in Turns." She laughs then, shoulders rolling slightly in a shrug. "And I could have gotten up earlier... but I didn't think your lifemate over there would give me a ride until you were awake," she confides, winking at the greenling. "And how did you sleep? I felt horrid taking your bed like that... you were comfortable enough, weren't you?" she quickly adds, a faint hint of worry creeping in.

Hiza laughs lightly, "I'm most comfortable when with Issryuith.. slept a bit much, but that was probably the wine." A bit of worry waves across her face, and so she hastily adds, "Last night is mostly a blur, but to answer directly, I slept quite well, thank you." She shuffles over to a chair and plunks down, commenting, "I'm glad you slept so well." A glance to her lifemate, who doesn't budge, sleeping still, "And yea... Iss probably wouldn't take you down without me, that's true." Hands tap against the table absently, and then quips, "If you'd like, I got some klah and sweetrolls earlier," Yes, Elehu was completely alone the weyr for awhile. Which would have been an interesting way to wake, for certain.

Elehu begins to slide off the bed, one thin brow arching a bit as she gives Hiza a look that's a combination between amused and pleased. "That sounds wonderful, Hi', thank you," she replies brightly, though she keeps her voice a tad soft to avoid disturbing the sleeping dragon. She pads to the table, a light smile still on her face as she glides into a chair. "Of course, I suppose you've already eaten then."

Hiza bites her lip, "Actually, no, I didn't. T'wouldn't have been polite of me," And by the steaming quality of the klah, 'earlier' is used on a very immediate basis. Greenrider sets about pouring klah into the mugs constantly on her table(washed, of course) and slides one gently Elehu's way. Noticing the whispering, Hiza grins, "Oh don't worry, nothing will wake Issryuith a moment earlier than she wants to be woken.. Except, I'm assuming," and hoping, "Fall. Because it's our duty to fly... it would be bad if Issryuith slept through it." She takes a sip of her own klah, chatter continuing with, "I imagine my wingmates wouldn't appreciate that, either." Well... duh.

Elehu's smile widens just a bit as she mumbles a thanks for the klah, cradling the mug in her hands while blowing softly across the top. "I haven't seen too many dragons who would miss the chance to get back at Thread," she comments after a moment, giving Issryuith a rather thoughtful look. "So I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Besides, worrying never really does anyone any good. Just causes stress," she adds in a frank voice, shrugging before taking a slow sip.

Hiza nods slowly, working on tearing apart a sweetroll and eating it. 'Cause not every klah-addict forgets to eat, "That's true. Iss doesn't like me to worry, so I try not to." A slight head-bob, and Hiza takes a bite, chews and swallows before changing the subject. "So anyway, thanks for seeing me to my weyr last night. Even if it is close, I don't think it would have been smart to go alone." Afterall, a moment's folly can result in long-term complications. Like death, though it's doubtful that would've occured. In any case, she goes on with, "Iss and I'll take you back as soon as you'd like." Pause, "Once she's awake, that is."

Elehu reaches for a sweetroll, just turning it slowly between her fingers. "Well, it was the least I could do, Hiza. I could hardly let you go all by yourself, short distance or not. And Tatia and Konolan probably didn't want the extra burden," she adds teasingly. "Aaaand, I got to see your weyr this way. Quite a deal if you ask me." She pops a small piece of roll in her both and grins, leaning back in her chair. "And now I can not only say that I've seen your weyr, but your bed as well," she can't help but add, winking again. "And as for the trip down, I'm really in no hurry. I have the night shift tonight anyway."

Hiza flushes a bit in light of the teasing, but gulps down her klah instead, eyes shining, "The weyr will think things if you tell them you've seen my bed." Something about her tone seems to be playing with the concept of not caring, but she shuffles off into, "No, I suppose they," being Tatia and Konolan, "wouldn't have." A pause, and then quietly, "And of course not Reiko. T'would of been silly, since we were at her weyr." She nods several times, "An' sides... you got to see my weyr." Mug is emptied, and she adds, "It's nice and cozy, don't you think?"

Elehu just laughs, shoulders shrugging quickly. "And what if they do? I've never cared much about that sort of gossip before, and now is really no different," she comments, hazel eyes twinkling lightly as she leans her elbows on the table. "Oh, it's /very/ nice and cozy, Hi'," she then replies, eyes flitting about the weyr again as she idly swirls the contents of her mug. "It has a lot of potential. And I think that mural of yours adds almost a... a brightness. Much better than the plain, grey stone. Any other plans for this little home of yours?"

Hiza used to be a drudge, dearie. She thrives on gossip, "Well, I don't mind either, really, but.. if some people were to hear, and misc.. misc... think the wrong thing and... well, that could be bad," Like for her chances('cause she doesn't know otherwise). But then the rider shrugs, waving a hand about, and moving on "Oh, I might paint the shelves, but then I'd need somewhere to keep my things while they dried so that Iss doesn't accidently smash them." And of course it would be an accident. Ahem, "And Iss wants me to paint fish and... something else, I forget.. on the ceiling," which she'll need help getting to, "but I think that's it." The last of her sweetroll is devoured, and she adds, "Of course, I'll be living here for Turns and Turns, so who knows."

Ah, but Elehu is a Healer. She deals with the cold hard facts that spawn the fluffy gossip. She does seem to ponder Hiza's words though while slowly nibbling away at her sweetroll, finally nodding a little. "Yes, you're quite right. But we can just set them straight, then," she replies quietly before taking a sip of her klah, setting the mug gently on the table. "Um... you could probably put some under the bed? Maybe," she offers, glancing at the said item of furniture. "Might be safer than on the shelves even," she can't help but add lightly. "And of course you'll have Turns and Turns," she adds more brightly, "so no need to hurry, really..."

Hiza scrunches her whole face into a smile, bobbing her head, "Yes." And this to everything Elehu said, head tilting the side, however, to add, oh-so-almost-unhearably quiet, "Unless we didn't need to set them straight." And immediately she bursts into a beam, "Say, Elehu, how would you like to be part of my weyr?" Flush as she realizes how that must sound, and then hastily clarify, "I mean.. uhm... on the mural, you know. Since I think it would be nice to remember having a Healer spend the night in my bed." And Iss isn't awake to object or anything, "'Cause there's lots of space on the wall and I want to have the mural be an ongoing project." Grin.

Elehu arches one brow a tiny bit at the not-quite-understood comment. At the second though the other brow rises as well as she gives Hiza a rather surprised look, if quite amused. "Ah... right. Well," she begins, trying to tone down the grin on her face a bit while looking over the mural again. A handy distraction, that. "If you want to add me, then I'd be honored. To the mural, that is, not the bed," she adds teasingly. "If you don't have room though when the time comes... I'll just have to become someone else's muse for a while." And the smirk returns, if lightly.

Hiza shakes her head, "No, I meant..." Eyes close and she rephrases whatever she was going to say, "I could paint you in now, if you'd pose for just a little while?" A slight laugh at the bed comment, eyes flickering toward her dragon, though she /knows/ Issryuith is still sleeping, "I'm not a harper or anything, so I won't take all day getting it perfect or anything." She rises, dragging the chair she sits on to the back, and gesturing for Elehu to come and sit, "Please? An' you can still talk. I don't care if you move or anything." A broad smile, "I just want it to look like you, y'know." Reiko she'll draw from memory. Of course, Reiko's face is permanently embedded into her mind, so whatever.

Elehu rises gracefully enough from her own chair, refilling her mug with klah before joining Hiza in the back. "I can certainly handle that, Master Painter, Hiza," she replies solemnly, offering a mock rendition of a curtsy. Then with a not nearly so graceful a movement, she flops into the chair, legs outstretched and one ankle propped up over the other. "How's this?" she asks with a wide grin. "Or... perhaps something a bit more prim and proper," she adds, sitting up straight, and crossing her legs as elegantly as a woman could in leather pants.

Hiza tilts her head back, bubbling with laughter. Eyes shimmer, and she waves, "However you're comfortable." Is replied, willing her eyes serious, "This Master Painter needs you only for a reference of yourself." An affected sniff, and she reaches for a stick of charcoal(out of nowhere, mind you), going to the wall a bit to the right, and, glancing toward Elehu with a grin, begins to sketch. Hand moves in broad circles and then deft lines, adding in hair to an empty, jawless face (a bit more flowing that the real stuff) and upper body, loose lines for clothing. And expression isn't yet touched, eyes flickering toward Elehu again and giving the image some facial structure. "Yes, this shall look nice, indeed, indeed. A lovely addition to my weyr's wall."

Elehu nods with a silly little smile and quickly goes back to her original pose, sipping at her klah for a long moment while she simply watches Hiza quite curiously. "I've never been terribly good at sketching people," she finally comments, eyeing the image quickly taking on her own shape with no small amount of wonder. Then a quick laugh. "My hair isn't nearly that flowing. It gets so frizzy in the winter time," she adds, grinning, one hand going to her tousled mop that could certainly use a comb or brush just about now. "So... how did you learn? To draw and paint like that, I mean."

"Would you like me to paint it frizzy?" Hiza teases, glancing sidelong, adding in relaxed, almost peaceful features as she blushes and coments, "Well, when I was really, really little, in Crom, I would sometimes turn in my daily work with extras... crude little sketches of my teacher, a firelizard in the sunlight... " Pause to quirk picture-Elehu's lips up slightly, pleased, perhaps, "Not very good or realistic, but the harper saw potential, I guess, because he would give me spare scraps and tell me I'd get a treat for making them look as much like real things as I could." A flush, as she mutters, "Said he wanted to reccommend me to the Harpers for apprenticeship, but I'd have none of that, thank-you." Hand goes to chin, thoughtful, smearing charcoal across her face, "Don't regret choosing to stay at home, either. Not at all. M'no good for training. A harper has to sing or play or.. something." A slight adjustment to Elehu's nose, and "Like Rianne. She's got a gorgeous voice and and..." Hiza shrugs, blinking as she realizes how much she's gone on, "Oh.. m'sorry. Shoudl've just said 'hold harper' and been done with it, I guess."

Elehu laughs in reply, quickly shaking her head. "No, no... I like it the way you have it," she replies briskly, eyes glimmering. She sets her mug down beside the chair and sits forwards a little more, really quite fascinated with Hiza's work. "Well, I think you're certainly good enough to have been a Harper," she then adds, a soft smile curving her lips. "Not all Harpers are the ones on stage, after all. I think that so many times the more impressive people are the ones in the background, the ones who never try to flaunt what they can do... the ones who just serve how they can."

Hiza flushes further, laughing in embarassment, "Oh, but Elehu, I wouldn't have been satisfied with people who could sing all around me. Besides, I never would have come to stay at 'Reaches and who knows how my life would've turned out." Charcoal is set back down(aha, a little table hidden in the corner, cough-cough) and gaze goes between the Real Deal and the Sketched Version. "Hmm..." She turns, scooping up a container of paint and unlidding it. "Yes, this should be the right color." And on goes a base color on the face of the semi-portrait, making it appear a bit odd. "But anyway, I do see your point. There would be no faces lining Hold Halls staring down at visitors." And her tone goes light again, teasing, "And then how would the Lord and Lady Holders scare people away?"

Elehu falls quiet after some time, content to just watch Hi' add bits here and touch up parts there... But finally, realizing she probably isn't needed as a prop anymore, she slowly gets to her feet and walks over towards Hiza, getting a better look at the painting. A slow smile spreads over her already beaming face. "Hi', that's fantastic," she all but whispers, bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet. "And I must say... it's an honor to be a permanent part of your weyr." And remarkably enough, there isn't a hint of teasing to her tone now.

Hiza adds one last dab of paint, and turns, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Of course, by this point the poor rider is covered in paint as well as the charcoal from before, "Oh, it's /my/ honor to add you, really, Elehu." Her little voice is soft, serious, turning to inspect the painting before looking back at Elehu, head cocking slightly to the side. "After all, making sure I'm alright and then getting stuck in my weyr all day long... you deserve it." A smile plays across her lips and then she goes silent, green eyes searching Elehu's face, words come out a whisper, "I'm glad you like it..."

Elehu laughs softly as she returns the weyrling's searching gaze with a brief one of her own... to be replaced with a quick smile. "And besides, it's been quite the pleasure hanging out in your weyr all day with you and Issryuith, even if she hasn't been awake for most of it," she briskly adds, winking at Hiza before glancing over at the mentioned dragon. "And I promise, I won't go telling people I got to sleep in your bed," she adds lightly.

Hiza giggles somewhat, biting her bottom lip, "It's been wonderful having you." A wink is followed with, "I'll have to kidnap you again sometime..." A shrug and Hiza grins, cheerful(too), "Well I doubt anyone would ask, but that would be nice of you. No need to start the rumors going," this is said as she moves sleekly to clean up her painting items, and then, looking of her shoulder, "Unless there's were truth behind it." A soft chuckle leaves that almost open to interpretation, but the rider doesn't look back for a good moment longer, and when she does it's to bemoan, "I wonder if anyone else's lifemate sleeps so excessively." Hand goes to face, and then eyes widen, horrifyed, "Oh no, I completely covered in paint, aren't I?"

Elehu grins broadly as she eyes Hiza from top to bottom. "Well... kinda," she admits, not even trying to hide her reaction. "As for the kidnapping, I can't say I'd mind at all..." She trails off slightly, offering a small shrug as she moves to lean against the table. "And even if it were true, gossip has a mind of its own... you never know what the story will be when you hear it again." She suddenly smiles, head tilting just a bit. "Why?... would you want it to be true? Or would you regret it?" She winks though as she straightens again waving away her own question. "Forget that, it's the mindhealer in me talking. Anyway...." Hazel eyes take in the green dragon quickly, then the weyrling once more.

Hiza turns a brillant crimson in about three seconds flat. Sure, other weyrlings may blush alot, but do they turn such a lovely shade(which, by the way, goes excellent with paint)? "I... Idon'tknow." Away, turns the head of the Hiza, "Can'tsayI'dregretitatthemoment, nobutyousaidforgetitsoI'mgoingtobequiet." All this in one big breath, and then a soft smile moves across her face, and she starts to laugh, shaking her head, "I'm such a stupid wherry, Elehu, you know that?"

Elehu's smile softens considerably as Hiza rushes through her answer. But at the last comment, the Healer simply shakes her head, if anything looking a bit abashed. "You're not a stupid wherry, Hi'. Not at all... I really shouldn't have asked." She laughs quietly, a rather mirthless sound. "But I think that discussion will need to wait for another time. If ever, of course." She grins, then, glancing out towards the ledge. "Um... if you wouldn't mind though, I really should be getting down to the real world now. My shift starts soon, and I know Kare would have a fit if I missed it."
