Ground Weyrs (#2361)
Once a mere overhang in the bowl wall, this arched stone enclave was deepened in aeons past by who-knows-what to provide shelter for injured dragons and their mates. Craggy walls loom high to dwarf rider and dragon alike, sloping back from the weather-open entrance to a low opening into the infirmary itself. Stacked under rock-shaded cover are low supply chests of sturdy timber, flanked with long tables. Other openings are shaded by wherhide curtains, leading to smaller, private caverns for the dragonhealers' patients.
It is a summer afternoon. The sun's rays lengthen, but it is still hot. The easterly breeze picks up a bit, offering some relief to the summer sun.
To the southwest, you see Mzadith.
Settled on rough-hewn ledge are Bansi, Bow-Wow, Kyoei, Simbi, and Vuil.
Obvious exits:
Bowl -- Inner Ground Weyr -- Infirmary

Reiko comes into shelter from bowl's wide open spaces.

Reiko (#21442)
Jet black hair falls shiny and straight just to her chin, a fringe of shorter hair in front just brushing delicate brows. Her skin is creamy-pale, with just a faint blush on high cheekbones and full lips. Wide-set emerald eyes are tipped up slightly at the outside corners and framed with thick black lashes, giving her a vaguely feline appearance. Neither overly tall nor overly short, Reiko stands straight-shouldered with quiet confidence and moves with an easy, quiet grace.
Supple leather clings to Reiko's slim form, so dark it seems true black until just the right light hits it, when it gives off a rich, plum glow. The jacket is a bit roomy but still tailored, more casual than truly elegant, given the collar up-turned in back in a flirtatiously naive way. Smudge-dark bronze fastenings allow for quite a bit of modification in how it is worn, even allowing a bit of cleavage to show when the jacket is not tightly closed for flight. The lapels are dyed a pleasant, contrasting cream, the color echoing in trim along the cuff and edges, as well as along reinforced seams. Emphasizing her slim hips and thighs, the trousers have just enough give to be comfortable, are snug enough to attract admiration. The cut widens a bit further down, parting in a slit below the knee along the outside of the calf to accommodate softly-buffed black boots.
She is awake and looks alert.
Reiko is 21 Turns, 1 month, and 27 days old.

Elehu (#19619)
Elehu has grown into womanhood with quite a bit of success. She has curves in most of the right places, though her body is still a bit on the thin side and heartily built, a stubbornness of physicality to match the resolute bedrock of her character. Her skin glows faintly of golden bronze, the visage of a wanderer. Her rich brown, shoulder-length hair contains streaks of reddish gold, bleached by the sun, that seem to make her hazel-brown eyes shine with an inner fire. Her hands are small, but her fingers are slender and nimble, well built for her walk of life.
Snug leather pants cover Elehu's legs, neatly tucked into sturdy black boots, but the doe-brown material isn't quite so tight that it can't be rolled up from time to time. A belt of silver-touched onyx encircles her waist, and a slender dagger, about six inches in length, hangs at her right hip, with an odd sort of wherhide pouch at the left. Her loose blouse of rich emerald has been carefully and precisely tucked in, the roomy sleeves falling only a few inches past her shoulders. This combined with the small jewel like buttons down the front affords the Healer with quite a bit of freedom in movement.
A soft cord of the deepest purple winds itself around a similar cord of bright white in a single loop. Small strands of icy blue and shadowy black are intertwined intricately, a long tail of all four colors hanging from the knot, signifying that Elehu is a Healer Journeyman posted at High Reaches Weyr.
She is awake and looks alert.
Elehu is 21 Turns, 2 months, and 17 days old.

Elehu is standing near one of the stations nearest the infirmary doors, a small tray on the counter from which she's slowly taking vials and small jars and placing them with care in their proper places. Every now and then she'll hum a little part of this song or that, but for the most part she's just going about her job quietly.

Reiko slips in from the Bowl, blinking rapidly as her eyes adjust to the diminished light. She's halfway across the ground weyrs, finding her way more from memory than by actually looking at anything, when she finally notices Elehu by the infirmary doors... and a twisted smile lights her face as she steals up behind the Healer. "Hi," she greets quietly, emerald gaze flickering over the vials carelessly before sweeping over Ele's form. "Busy?"

Elehu has obviously not been paying much attention, for she suddenly jumps a little and spins, clutching a small jar to her chest. "Oh! Reiko, hi." She hastily smiles and sets down the jar, releasing a long slow breath. "Sorry, um... Not busy exactly, just taking care things." She smiles a little more and leans back against the counter while giving the rider a calculated once-over in turn. "Feeling better?" Assuming she wasn't before. "And how's Cerdith doing?"

The twisted smile spreads a bit as Reiko registers the once-over with something like approval in her eyes. The question seems to surprise her a bit, though, until she remembers the conversation in the baths. Her gaze abruptly drops. "I'm fine," she replies quietly, perhaps a bit uncomfortably, rolling one shoulder in a kind of half-shrug. Her tone lightens a bit as she continues, warming as she speaks of her lifemate. "Cerdith's fine, too." That sounds a bit more convincing actually. Her gaze flickers over the workstation again and she abruptly changes the subject. "Inventory?"

Elehu looks obviously unconvinced at the first 'fine' but her smile is right back in place as Reiko looks up again. "Good to hear, as always." Her head tilts a fraction as her mouth moves as if to say something further, but instead she turns, picking up the jar from earlier and just idly turning it in her hands. "Yes, actually. We were about due for one. And it keeps me busy, so that's fine too. How's it working out with your new wing?" she adds with a little grin. She's heard plenty of stories about that particular bunch by now.

Reiko begins to relax a bit as Elehu doesn't press the question of how she's feeling. Really, the physical discomfort is minimal at this point anyhow. It's the feeling of being scrutinized that gets to her. The twisted smile returns as she slouches against the doorframe. "It's fine," she says easily. "We haven't flown a Fall yet, just sweeps and drills... nice not to have to lead them for a change." Her smile twists into something a bit more wry, and she shrugs diffidently as she tucks a chunk of hair behind one ear. "So how long is your visitor staying... Danna?" She hasn't decided whether to seek out or avoid the journeywoman... in either case, the information will be useful.

"Yes, I suppose that would be a relief," Elehu replies to the wingleading comment. "That should work out well though, I'd think. Good people in that wing." But she's not biased one bit. She continues on in a light tone, combined with a tiny grin. "Um... I'm not exactly sure how long Sudanna will be up here. I didn't even know she was /coming/, so that's how far down I am on the information line." She pushes the tray back against the wall for now and just leans sideways against the counter again, facing Reiko. "Have you, uh... talked to Hiza or Khena lately, perhaps?" She doesn't give too much indication of which answer she'd prefer, yes or no.

Reiko nods at Elehu's assessment of her wing, processes the information about Sudanna... then frowns lightly at the question. "Not since graduation, really." And not much then, either. The day is kind of a blur at this point. She fixes an even gaze on the Healer. "Why?" Typically oblivious, she hasn't a clue of the Weyr's current goings-on... and she drank enough to forget anything she might have seen or heard at the graduation party.

Elehu hesitates a moment before waving off the question with light-hearted laugh. "Oh, nothing I suppose. I was just curious." She bites her lip softly for a moment before giving a soft grimace and stand away from the counter with a shrug. "You might want to, well, avoid Khena maybe. She's not too happy with me. Or you either, which is my fault." A hint of a blush begins to creep into her face as she swallows quickly and again smiles. "Actually, just forget it. It's just one more thing I have to do, that's all. Speaking of which..." She trails off and picks up the tray, watching Reiko out of the corner of her eyes. "It's good seeing you again, Reiko. A little bit of sunshine to my day." Then she takes the couple steps towards the rider, gives her a peck on the cheek and grins, disappearing into the infirmary.

Reiko is silent for a long moment, trying to make sense of Khena not being happy with her. Not that this is earth-shattering news, actually -- she can't remember the last time the brownrider /was/ happy with her -- but the bit about it being Elehu's fault puzzles her somewhat. Before she can open her mouth to respond, or even react to the light kiss on her cheek, Elehu is gone. She blinks for a moment or two, then gathers her composure and slips out.

Reiko leaves healers' enclave for the central bowl.

Shining steel and redwort tang assault the senses on entry to the infirmary.
