Logfile from Elehu
Niall (#21904)
Sculpted features, roughed by turns in the harsh northern elements; tone muscles,
well defined and distantly designed for speed, endurance, and agility, all speak
of his life before the Weyr, and even some on if during his life here. Even
with him gone from that life, he constantly still shows signs of hard work and
being out in the elements, even if he's not seen doing it most of the time.
Standing at 5' 10 there are many things apparent about him. Like the midnight
black hair, that is now kept short, and his contrasting light eyes. Steady and
controlled his eyes are, wild and erratic is his hair. But even with what is
seen and known, much of him remains a mystery.
Coving his upper body is a dark forest green tunic. Along the edges and down
the arms arm, mysterious brown symbols swirl. Each symbol, runs down an arm,
around a cuff, or the neck, and each symbol is one continues, interweaving line.
Each of these lines is connect to itself, forming interweaving knots, with no
beginning and no end. Black pants cover his lower body, consisting of the same
mysterious designs as on his tunic, except these only run down the legs. His
clothing is made of a thick material, making these perfect for cold weather,
but awful for anything else. On his feet are full-length boots, which follow
the same pattern of his tunic and pants. AS his boots house the symbols too.
Perched on Niall's shoulder is Seker.
He is awake and looks alert.
Niall is 19 Turns, 7 months, and 20 days old.
Elehu is rather lazily sitting on one of the couches doing... well, nothing really. She's staring at whatever's opposite her, the corner of a torn robe in her hands and a sewing basket at her side on the floor.
Quiet Corners (#18973)
Thick woolen tapestries dull the noise from the rest of the caverns, turning
this well-lit little room into a welcome escape. The stairs up place it against
the bowl wall somewhere above the living caverns, carpeted against the winters
chill or left as cool stone floor in summer. Some high and narrow windows can
be opened to the world outside, or secured with their heavy metal-sided shutters
and blue-threaded curtains.
Glowlight gleams, brightening the well-cushioned stone couches and lighting
the weyr residents half-finished projects: knitting undone, sewing only started,
leathers being worked soft, and even a hide of sketches or half-finished Thread-chart
spread out across one of the tables.
Curled up amongst the baskets of wool are Sahara, Eclipse, Dystopia, Zauberer,
and Samedi.
Niall is here.
Obvious exits:
Inner Stairs
Niall yawns a few times as he enters what he hopes will be a quite place. He
made some unintelligible noise, as his blue chirped. Not long ago it had several
days since he slept, and because of that he made a fool of himself in the living
caverns in front of Reiko and someone else he couldn't remember. Not long after
that, he got more then enough sleep, and now he was back to lack of sleep for
the third day straight. "Shut up and let me sleep," he snapped quietly
to the blue as he feed it again. Collapsing into a chair, he finally looked
around, and saw anther was there.

Elehu blinks slowly as she begins to realize she's not alone any longer. She sits up leisurely and gives Niall a quick nod. "Hello there," she calls over, voice in that hazy area between brisk and lazy. "Finally taking my advice?" she asks teasingly, giving the young man a grin. "I'm Elehu. The Healer." She winks at him and suddenly remembers the item in her hands, which she blinks at before reaching into her basket for her sewing supplies.
Niall blinks slowly at Elehu, his head coming closer then backing away as he tried to focus on her. A fool he probably looked like, moving his head like that. "I was, and then my blue hatched," he answered, then stopped all together. Elehu? He knew that name somewhere, and for a few moments he had to think about it. "I should know how you are... I've done my best to stay out of your infirmary even when I've been hurt... And I've ran into you at the worst times too."
Elehu smirks a little and shakes her head as she begins to rethread her needle. "I think I last saw you in the living caverns. You were talking about some tooled leather panels, or something like that. I think Reiko was there. You know Reiko, right?"
Niall started to open his mouth to say something, but a loud noise from his blue stopped him. A chunk of meat was seemingly shoved down the blue's throat. "Yes we were. I finished those and sent those out, and that blue noisemaker is what I got for it. He hasn't let me sleep for three days." He yawned then, having to pause words. "Yes I know her. I've known her for a while... Trying to chase her the entire time too." Blunt wasn't something in Niall's style, just a side effect of being tired, something he was, very much so now.
Elehu blinks a little bit, pausing as she starts to sew up a tiny rent in the material in her lap. "Chase her? Whatever for?" she asks, quite honestly curious. She then leans forward a little to get a look at the little blue, a wide grin splitting her face. "Aww... he's a cutie. I always did like the blue ones best."
Niall stick his hand out, offering the blue to Elehu. "Here, take him if you like the blues." But his hand retracted quickly as claws dug into skin. A few words were muttered as food was given, and they were probably best left unheard. "I like Reiko... No, a better way to put it... I have feelings for her," he finally answered, after the blue was happy.
Elehu carefully keeps her expression neutral, though one brow does manage to arch a couple fractions. "Really? I didn't know that... You've told her this? She can be dreadfully stubborn sometimes," she comments lightly in a briskly rushed tone. She gives the man a slightly curious, even wary look, then turns back to her sewing, paying just a little more attention to it than is really needed, brows furrowing slightly.
"So I've noticed," Niall said though a yawn. He wanted to sleep, but instead he kept talking and feeding that blue. "She knows... Has known." He stopped talking then, and just curls into a ball to sleep in the small chair he's occupying.
Elehu gives a quiet, noncommittal sound and nods, but continues with her work while she mulls this over. And since she doesn't look up, she doesn't quite catch on to the fact that the young man would rather sleep. And she does love to ask questions... "But why chase her then?" she pipes up, still not looking at the man as she watches her stitches carefully. "I mean, if she /knows/..."
Niall looked up blinking a few times at Elehu. It doesn't matter if he wanted to sleep, a hungry pet wasn't letting him anyways, and so she can ask away. "Chase... It's a figure of speech... I'm interested in her, and have been trying to get her interested in me... Or acknowledge that she already is, so more can happen." He sat up some then and paused. "She knows I'm interested in her. Has known. I've told her, and my actions towards her have made it quite clear when I've been around her alone." And even when they're not alone.
Elehu looks up then, lips parted in a curious little "oh" shape as she lets her hands fall to her lap again and leans back. "I see..." A tiny frown appears again as she bites her lip softly. "And... when you've told her this, or made your intentions clear at least, what does she say? Do?"
Niall shrugged some, not even realizing what his words might be meaning. "I don't know. She said and done many things. Sometimes it seems she returns the feelings, but then other times I've been slapped." But he did deserve to be slapped that one time. "Like you've already pointed out, she's stubborn."
"Yes... yes she is," Elehu replies quietly, glancing down at her sewing for a moment without really seeing it. "But some things just take time. Whereas others just... aren't meant to be." She's just offering ideas, really. And that seems to be all she's going to say at this very moment at least as she slowly begins tying off her stitches in the robe, glancing up at Niall once.
Niall nods in agreement, and yawns once. "Yes some things do take time," and a lot of patient, his unspoken words were. "And others are to be, but sometimes it can be for the best." He laid his head back down and yawned again. His comfort didn't last long, as he yelped soon, from claws that dug into soft flesh.
Elehu eyes the man's firelizard for a moment. "When they're young like that you can let them pretty much eat themselves to sleep," she offers quietly in a bit of unsolicited advice. "Why don't you just ask her how she feels? I mean... just out and say it?"
"I've tried that," Niall answers, but to which statement of Elehu's it's not clear. "I want to sleep, and my blue won't." He looks up at the blue, quite threateningly. "Ask Reiko?" It came out almost like he thought Elehu was crazy. "I've tried, and it didn't work... I can't get a straight answer out of her when it comes to that subject."
"Then ask her for a straight answer," Elehu quickly suggests. She sets her needle and thread to the side and carefully folds the robe, setting that on the other side of her on the couch. She gives Niall another long look and shrugs to herself. "What's the blue's name?"
Niall rolls his eyes at the idea, thinking it won't work, but to tell the truth will try it sometime. "His name?" He had to stop and think about that for a moment, and then a loud trill in his ear jogged his sleepy memory. "It's Seker."
Elehu grins a little. "I like that," she comments, pulling another item from her sewing basket, this time a small yellow blanket. "So they liked the tooled leather enough to give you a flit egg. Must have been pretty good work."
Niall liked it too, it's just the blue he's not sure if he likes. "It was a good piece." It should have been for all the hours he stayed up making it. "But it was also family I sent it too. And my family's trading caravan could sell it and make enough for two or three eggs. They lost nothing for giving me this one."
Elehu arches a brow slightly as she gives the young man another long look. "Are you bitter about that?" she asks in a puzzled voice, head tilted to the side as she idly goes about the task of again threading her needle. "I would have liked to have seen it. Too bad you gave it away already."
"Bitter about what?" Naill asked, now confused. He shook his confusion off and shrugged some. "I still have drawing I made of it... Not as good as the original, but I can make more with those drawings.... And if I had known you wanted to see it, I would have waited in sending it out."
Elehu laughs softly and shrugs. "Nah, that's okay. I've just always had a little weakness for the more artistic things in life." She starts turning the blanket in her hands until she finds the corner that needs mending. "So what's your latest job? Maybe I can see that instead when you're done."
Niall smiled and nodded slowly, as he started to wake now. "I use to do more, but even then I did very little... I had another job in the caravan. But I have nothing at the moment, but can do something for you if you want."
"Nah, I'm quite all right. Besides, I'd have nothing to pay you with," Elehu explains, shrugging quickly. "There are plenty of things to do around a Weyr, I'd hate to pull you away from something more needed anyway."
Niall shakes his head, him have something to do at the Weyr. He lives here, and helps out people who are close but not there. "There might be, but I'm not really part of them... And I wouldn't care to be paid, give me something else to do."
Elehu laughs softly as she makes a few smooth, neat strokes. Healers had better be good at stitching after all. "Really, there isn't anything I need, but thank you. And besides, I'm going to hopefully be leaving on vacation soon, so it would be silly to ask you to do something, then leave for a month or two."
Niall thinks about that last statement some. It does to him, means he would have a month or two more to work on it. "Well if you do have fun... I hope I don't do anything to cause me to be in your infirmary and cause you to stay."
Elehu gives a delighted little chuckle at that and eyes Niall, her eyes twinkling a little. Such a better conversation than over frustrated love. "I wouldn't worry. I'm just one of many Healers here at the Weyr, and Kariel will still be here. He's the senior Weyrhealer right now." In case he ever needs to know. "So you're from a caravan family?"
"I just hope the healers don't mind hitting their patients," Niall muttered, finding that funny, but also quite true with him. "I am, a trading one, out by the Northern reaches. From Crom to Telgar mostly, above and below them. But sometimes they go further south, east, and west."
Elehu blinks a little at Niall but shrugs it off. "Well, I don't even know when I'm going yet. Or if, for that matter." She grins a little as he explains which caravan. "I might have caught a glimpse of that one once or twice. Telgar Hold or the Weyr?"
"The weyr," Niall answered, but then he smirked some. "If you were ever at a hold when the doubled the guards when a large trading caravan was coming, you've probably seen them. Lots to trade, everyone I ever talked to, thought it high quality and cheap for it... Just a few gave a bad example."
Elehu shakes her head slightly. "No, I'm from Telgar Weyr, born and raised," she replies with an almost girlish grin. "Well, raised there until I joined the Healers anyway. I probably saw your caravan once or twice at least though, I didn't leave until I was... thirteen Turns I think."
Niall laughed some as he stood up slowly, his blue finally asleep. "You probably did... If you even say a child in a black cloak, then we were there... And it would have been me... But we also hosted giant parties when we went there." He walked to the stairs and smiled at Elehu. "It was great talking to you, but now Seker's asleep, so I'm going to try and get some too."
"Good luck with that," Elehu calls out quickly, waves, then goes back to her sewing.
Niall heads back down the inner stairs.
