Logfile from Elehu
Ref> Erzulie
Ref> Pale green pours over her slender form; the darker jaded green of her
head transforming into a creamy layer that spills over her neck and wings, and
turns into an again slightly darker green 'round her talons. Minty wings' membrane
is pale, pale green, a transluscent addition to her coloring, and headknobs
and muzzle are dotted with blueberry spots; a complimentary garnish to her flawless
look.
Ref> Erzulie is 4 Turns, 4 months, and 15 days old.
Ref> Erzulie is awake and seems alert.
Ref> Erzulie seems agitated and proddy.
Ref> Erzulie screeches as she speeds out of the caverns, darting straight up toward the sky, trying to escape the itching hide making her rather aggitated.
MOO Time: 2001-12-03 16:23:21
Ref> Ref chitters softly, his dark hide blending well with the wintry shadows of the bowl. Eyes take on a cautious golden hue as he hops out into the cloudy light, dodging the odd snowflake here and there.
Ref> Erzulie gains height until she suddenly seems to change her mind and /dive/ straight toward the ground, spinning around herself, still screetching loudly. Leveling off just before hitting the ground, she glides a long way just inches above snowdrifts, even whirling up a few flakes, bellowing (a lizard-type bellow) a challenge as she passes a male.
Ref> Ref sits up straight in a surprised huff, then hops to the side again, one layer of lids snapping shut over his whirling eyes to shield them from the spray sent up by the darting green. With one last hop he takes to the air, wings beating furiously as he chases after the agitated green.
Ref> Etzal blinks in from ::between::!
Ref> Etzal
Ref> Brutal and terrible, rich confidence searing out an eagle eye in relaxed
eloquence and fatal bronze beauty, Etzal, cruel pride of a savage savage world
rips forth in search of bloody sacrifice and fealty. Serpentinian slumber no
more in mind, he strikes pain and pleasure together, swallows the nearest bloody
heart, jaguar-like teeth and tallons rending suple flesh like so many victims
in an ill-faught war. No conjuration can effect Etzal's ire or grace which must
be wrung from pure adoration and sacrifice. In majestic plumage, the impsssive,
imoble prognostcator of life and death steps daring into the light.
Ref> Around his left leg is a band of black orange and pastel green, signifing
him as a firelizard that looks to a greenrider at Ista Weyr.
Ref> Etzal is 25 Turns, 5 months, and 3 days old.
Ref> Etzal is awake and seems alert.
Ref> Ref
Ref> A deep shimmering hue of reddish-brown covers this little firelizard's
body, accentuated by three dark mahogany stripes down his back and on either
side. Always calm and collected, he watches silently from his perch, ready in
an instant to let you know what he thinks. A somewhat biased judge, however,
he watches over his human pet, just waiting for someone to make a wrong move.
Ref> A small band of deep purple rings this little brown's neck, signifying
that his human pet is of the Healer Craft.
Ref> Ref is 7 Turns, 1 month, and 4 days old.
Ref> Ref is awake and seems alert.
Living Caverns (#392)
The rough-hewn majesty of this cavern far outpaces any delight in the multitudes
of curves that form its enclosure. The glabrous grey granite is shot through
with translucent obsidian, lending subtly-veined sparkle to the walls and the
foot-trodden smoothness of the floor that shows centuries-old placements of
the scarred trestle tables; carven hollows give homes for the glow baskets and
the coat-pegs that line the walls. No mosaics, no painting, no tiles: just a
few well-done tapestries mark the pathway that lead to the kitchen to the north
and the inner caverns to the west, and frame the nighthearth's stew and snacks,
while a heavier strip of oiled canvas shields the unwary from the wind in the
bowl.
Scattered about in various perches and niches are fifty-two firelizards.
You see OOC NOTICE (look sign), White Clay Egg Pot, Ini, and Mara here.
Pyrene, Rianne, and Khena are here.
Obvious exits:
Bowl --- Kitchens --- Inner Caverns --- Crafting Area
"Well, I still don't like it," Khena mutters, taking another large swig of ale, her fingers starting to drum on the table. "I can't relax when she's off like that.... " Let's not mention that the brownrider had been through at least a couple of flight involving her lifemate. A firelizard's flight should be a piece of cake.
Ref> Erzulie takes to the skies again, her head snaking around for a moment to view her chasers, giving them another loud challenging screech. Catch me if you can!
Silvery laughter bursts forth from the former Harper as she winks at Pyrene. "You know, maybe I should try that. But then, Kearneth would probably /never/ let me out of my Weyr ever, ever again as soon as he'd dragged me back up again," Rianne says with a grin. "Enjoy the food, though. I'm sure it's wonderful. In fact, I know it is. I had a bit of a bite over there..." As Khena starts to mutter, Rianne looks sideways at her. "Well, dear.. I'm sure that she's all right..."
Elehu enters quietly from the kitchens, a tall mug in one hand. She pauses just inside the living caverns to give a quick glance around, then snatches a small bread roll from the nearest table before meandering towards the hearth.
Pyrene is oh-so-sympathetic. "It'll be over soon," she assures Khena, happily buttering her bread. "Green flits don't have the stamina to do more than a couple of turns about the bowl. How /is/ Kearneth, Rianne?" she asks, changing subjects as swiftly as her moods. Elehu's entrance, thanks to its silence, goes un-noticed.
Ref> Ref screeches right back this time, enraged she should offend him and run like that. Towards the end of the screech, however, it takes on a new tone. It may be a cloudy day, but all the better to see that glowing hide. So next he tries a someone preposterous croon and beats his wings all the harder as the reddish brown firelizard shoots up into the sky behind the green.
Ref> Etzal slips out of the chilled between and slinks silently into the dark shadows he is used to. The glow of blood tinter orbes seen as he lingers and peers 'round. When the illumination of green hide springs to the skys he croons in dark contemplation, shall this bronzen god give chase to one that might me a devoute sacrifice? His hiss is confirmation only seconds before great wings give a mighty sweep and lift him from his perch, catching an updraft of warm air that send him spinning after the flawless pale mint of Erzulie.
Khena glances around as she hears footsteps and spots the Healer coming out of the kitchens. Swallowing a lump in her throat, she follows Elehu's movements with her eyes, before lifting her mug to her lips again to swallow more ale. As Pyrene speaks, the brownrider looks back at her, giving a short nod. "I hope you're right... It's only the second time she's gone up." To her knowledge anyway.
Rianne watches another newcomer idly as she passes, and then looks back to Pyrene as she speaks, determindedly devoting her considerable energy to smiling and continuing to chatter for her. "Kearneth, oh, that dear is the same as he was since the first day he hatched. A bit more subtle in getting what he wants, which of /course/ doesn't help me.. and a bit even more possessive than he was, but otherwise, just the same," Rianne says with a grin. "And how's Cadgwith?" she returns with a smile.
Ref> Chianti blinks in from ::between::!
Ref> Erzulie gains height, her speed and agility hopefully enough to leave behind the chaser. At least for a while. Seemingly reaching the clouds, she turns on a wingtip to go into a large swoop, circling around the males, her glowing hide still itching, but that is almost forgotten in the heat of the chase.
Pyrene's answer is delayed by a mouthful of food. "I hope he's a little /dryer/ than he was when he first hatched," she notes at length, finding a glass of juice to wash the bread down. "Bigger too.... Cadge is lovely. Glowing in fact. I swear she /likes/ being in egg. Of course, it'll be easier for her this time. Druseth being brown will be easier than a bronze clutch." Khena doesn't get a verbal answer, but Pyrene throws her a vaguely reassuring look.
Elehu takes a long sip from her mug and sets it on the table as she slides into a chair facing the others. Fingers start prying at the roll idly as she simply observes the others, nodding to them once or twice, just in case they're looking her way at the time. Next comes the arduous task of buttering the bread, which takes a bit more concentration this time than really necessary.
Ref> Etzal is an aged pro at this game, so he takes his time. No use spending all his energy now when she is still fresh and filled with flights passion. He lets the other males ware themselves out with continued attempts at catching the blueberry spotted lady before she is ready, before she is ripe. He follows her path and keeps time with the pace, but waites and watches for his chance. She will tire, she will faulter, and Eztal will be there to accept her utter adoration in the end.
Khena's fingers meanwhile start drumming again, the brownrider obviously being somewhat agitated. Not easy being at the /other/ end of a flight, even if it's 'just' a firelizard. "I think I'm /feeling/ her more, than I did when she first flew," she mutters, not adressing anyone in particular. Glancing over at Elehu again, a corner of her mouth tug upwards in an involuntary response.
Ref> Ref continues to soar upwards towards the noonday sun, heavily obscured by the winter's clouds. His hide takes on an almost darker hue as the few frozen gusts whirl around him, cascading from his wings as he turns in a breath to again dive after the green, a bit of a sharper turn as though to cut her off.
Pyrene spies Elehu eventually, "Morning," she greets the healer, with a touch of wariness. Can't really trust anybody of those colours. "Calm down, Khena. If you worry about it, of course you'll feel it more. Just tell her to come back when she's finished." Pyrene treats her lizards with similar discipline to brats--the chief difference being that she actually likes her lizards.
Ref> Erzulie does another dramatic twist in midair, almost curling herself up in order to turn and fly in the complete opposite direction, calling another challenge to the males as she passes them, her movements fast and furious. Passing through snowflakes, her hide is no longer just itching, it is also /wet/, which only adds to the glowing, making her a un-missable beacon in the air.
Elehu looks up and smiles quickly at Pyrene, lifting a hand to waggle her fingers at the goldrider. "Good morning, Pyrene," she calls over, completely numb to wary looks by now. Comes with the job. But, pleasantries aside, she'll just go back to her meagre midday meal.
Khena lifts an eyebrow toward Pyrene, takes a deep breath and then leans back in her chair, attempting to follow the goldrider's advise. "Calm down. Yeah, okay," she mutters, wrapping her fingers around the mug in order to stop the tapping. Another glance at Elehu, and the brownrider gets out of her chair to join the Healer at her table. "How're you?" she asks, trying to catch the other's eye.
Ref> Etzal snaps at the darker green tallons as they zip past, his eyes a whirl of reds and purples. He twists with an agility of age and spends just a touch mroe energy than he has been, the thrill of flight not unknown to this godling. There is a fluttering of annoyance twords the other males that dare oppose him and he glides with a dancers grace around some cumbersom forms that flap heavilly now from all their previous straining. Illuminant jade is now his goal, and if she will not give her addoration, he will take it. Or at least try to. ;)
Ref> Ref screeches in frustration now as he turns sharply again to swing towards the proddy firelizard. Eyes whirl in frantic shades of golden red as his wings hug tightly to his body, pivoting about abruptly as the green passes him again. Wings flutter out again, taut now as he soars around to try and catch the glowing green.
"Well, yes, he /is/ rather dryer, which is all to the good," Rianne comments, and then rises form the table to walk towards the door. "Well. It's been charming to see you all.. but I'm afraid I must be off. Bye everyone!" Ah, yes, her work is done. And so the bluerider whirls on her heel and makes with an energetic bounce in her stride to the exit and disappears.
Rianne goes home.
Pyrene watches Rianne go in mild amusement. "One of these days that girl really is going to wake up in a bad mood. And then she'll probably be the death of us all," she comments cheerfully. "And how /are/ you, Elehu?"
Elehu waves quickly as Rianne departs, then turns to give Khena a quick nod. "Hi there. I'm all right. Finally getting a bite to eat. And you and Mneoth?" she asks in a friendly tone, complete with smile as she sets the roll aside and sips from her mug as her gaze shifts to Pyrene. "Quite all right," she repeats, a bit louder this time. "How are you doing this fine wintry day?"
Ref> Erzulie snakes around her head once more, taking a look at her challengers, then pivots again, this time at an almost ninety degree angle, going /up/! And up, and up. Certain that the males are following close behind, she waste more energy looking back to check on that fact. Only a glance downward assures her that it is time, and the green folds back her wings against her back, her headlong five toward the ground beginning. One of you better catch her now!
"We're good, thanks, Ele," Khena says, glancing toward the Bowl, her eyes gleaming with an inner light. Waving her hand in the appropriate direction, she grins at the Healer. "Zulie's gone up. I think it's about done..." Lifting her mug, she makes a salute toward the other, then drains what's left of the ale, glancing back at the table she'd left. Where she'd left the pitcher.
Ref> Ref turns as if to follow the green in her rocketing skywards, but pauses for a wingbeat or two, head craned up to watch the wetly glowing young firelizard. A blasted croon, if there is such a thing, and the brown begins to drift downwards, angle almost at an intercept as the green heads towards the ground once more. And perchance, into his clutches as he strives to become not chaser, but protector once more.
Pyrene shrugs at Elehu. "Ecstatic," she tells her dryly. "Got any miracle cures for pregnancy, by any chance?"
Ref> Etzal spots the change in Erzulie's attitude only seconds before her change in altitude. He snarls at a blue who is in his way and the poor thing gets so spooked he goes beween, leaving Etzal a clear line to the falling jade. Not that hes going to allow any other to block his path. With all the unbond energy he's been keeping saved up he suddely surges forward, up and up and up. The shadow bronze of his wings eclipses the smaller males as he rises, the deamon god in all his magesty as he barrels upward on a collision course with the minty pale membrains and jade coated tail of Erzulie. With his speed and hers it will undoubtedly be a violently passionate embrace.
"Yes, a few extra trips between," Elehu pipes up for Pyrene's benefit with a charming smile. Sure, she likes kids, but Pyrene's? She obviously hasn't heard whose just yet. "However, I wouldn't suggest it. Very painful, I'm led to believe." Hazel-brown gaze turns towards Khena as the healer gives an amused chuckle. "Ah, is that the little commotion outside? Such frivolous beings, firelizards. Useful at times, though."
Pyrene snorts mildly at Elehu. "Depends when you do it. I don't think I've ever done it, except maybe by accident. But I'm not looking for a termination. Just... Ugh." And her mood swings again. Come back Rianne! All is forgiven. "I've got things to do. See you later." And she stalks out.
Pyrene goes home.
Ref> But in the end it is Erzulie making the decision and she evades the talons of Etzal, twitching to the side to end up in Ref's path, finding him an suitable candidate for her attentions, allowing the brown to catch her.
Khena nods slowly at Elehu, a slight grin spreading on her lips, despite the serious subject of Pyrene's query. "Very useful when I was a guard," she notes, looking from one to the other. Eyes glazing over, she nods again, the grinning becoming wider. "Seems she's found a winner."
Ref> Etzal suddenly disappears ::between::!
Elehu's brows shoot up for a moment at Pyrene's quick departure. "So she really /is/ pregnant," she mutters quietly, the look on her face becoming much more skeptical. "I'll have to talk to Kariel. With as many pregnant women as we have now, we'll need a lot more coordination with our scheduling in a few months." As if they don't normally. At Khena's grin and the final comment, Ele smile right back and nods. "They usually do," she teases mildly and leans back in her chair, mug held gingerly between her fingers.
Khena chuckles, "I s'pose," she nods, following Elehu's example and leans back in her chair, eyeing the Healer. "And, yeah. Pyrene's pregnant. I was here when she broke the news to Gids." Glancing around to make sure no one's close by, she leans forward again, as if to confide in her. "Ilare didn't take it well." Not that the brownrider was a gossip, but some news had to be delivered.
Ref> Ref chitters softly as he's suddenly found holding the glowing green, secure in his grasp as red-brown wings unfurl once more, sending them gliding off towards the side, well out of harm's way.
Elehu is about to take a sip and ends up all but dropping the mug instead as she gapes at Khena for a moment. "To Gid?? And no, I wouldn't think so," she adds softly, glancing away as she frowns. "Well, it is a Weyr, but really now. Pyrene?? You're sure?" she asks, tone rather incredulous. "But Cadgwith flew ages ago now. And..." Back to silent pondering.
Khena nods slowly, surprised that Elehu hadn't heard the news. "Aye, Gids and Pyrene. And..." stopping herself for a moment to consider if she should go on, she eyes the Healer. "Ilare's pregnant too..." And there we go. What little(?) news the brownrider has is out in the open. Hopefully without many ears listening in.
Elehu nods quickly and sets her mug down as she takes a small handkerchief from her belt pouch and dabs at a few drops of tea on her skirt. "Yes... I knew about Ilare, I gave her the physical for that one," she informs Khena distractedly. She sits back again with a quiet sigh and tosses the kerchief beside the mug. "Well, that should be interesting. Anything else new?"
Khena shrugs, her face becoming more neutral. "Not much," she says, raising a hand to stratch the back of her head. "I have extra duties for a while yet, but that's not so bad..." Of course, she's not mention /why/ she has extra duties. "And Gids delivered that couch. Looks real good too.. You were right. Place did need something like that."
Elehu sits up and grins. "Really? That's fantastic news. I didn't think it would take quite this long, but I'm glad he remembered." She starts attacking the bread roll once more, what little is left of it, nibbling on it idly as she glances around the caverns, now rather empty with the lunch hour over and done with. "Well, hopefully those extra duties won't last too long, right?"
Khena shakes her head, looking over her shoulder, then grimaces. "Speaking of... I should get going. Sweeps, y'know." Getting out of her chair, she pulls on her jacket, digging through her pockets for the gloves. "I'll take you up there sometime.. If you want to see it? The couch, that is?"
Elehu nods quickly as she also stands, grimacing as she glances back towards the inner caverns before giving Khena a quick grin. "Sounds like a plan. Clear skies, Khena. And keep warm. That's getting harder these days." Happens every Turn.
Khena nods, smiling at Elehu before turning back to the Bowl. "I'm comin', I'm comin'. Stop the noise, will you?" Talking to her lifemate of course.
Khena exchanges the protection of stone for the bowl outside.
