Volcanic Pool (#10471)
Somewhere in the depths of the mountains heat boils and burns towards the surface
of the earth; rock bubbles, stone melts, lava flows. Here, barely on the surface,
some faint reflection of those fires warm these pooled waters. One is hot --
almost too hot -- one just right, and one as icy cold as the snow that oftens
surrounds them. The contrast of ice and steam set one's skin -- or hide -- tingling.
It is a spring afternoon. The sun begins to rise up over the horizon and sets
the grass afire sparkling off of the dew. Orange, pink and purple rays spread
across the sky, turning a few high cirrus clouds into brilliant fingers of color.
At the pool's edge are Tiramisu and Amulet.

Khena slips into the warmth of the heated water.
Elehu is lounging way off towards the back of the cavern where the air is steamiest, immersed up to her chin in the hot water, a small white cloth draped over her eyes and a rather lazy smile on her face.
Khena (#20839)
Eyes, grayish-green, look out from under long arched brows, darker than the
shock-white blonde hair sitting on top of her head. Ragged and uneven ends cut
short, bears witness that she doesn't put much interest in personal appearance.
A bend in her long, narrow nose, tells of a long forgotten break, and adding
to that is a two-inch scar on her right cheek, giving her a face of someone
who's lived a hard life. High angular cheekbones and a strong square chin adds
to the impression of masculinity, while the arched brows makes her retain some
femininity in an otherwise harsh face. Shoulders and upper arms are hardened
from long hours of training and work, as is thigh and -calf muscles, while hands
and long fingers are callused and scarred. Along her flat abdomen is a five-inch
scar, one of many on her body, but the one most predominant. Breasts are small
and rounded, almost invisible when she's wearing baggy or heavy clothing, making
her look all the more masculine, her height of almost six feet doing nothing
to diminish that impression. Slightly tanned face and hands, from hours spent
outside, complete the image of a woman easily mistaken for a man.
Flames licking around her curves make it out for a swimsuit, the cloth dyed
to resemble a roaring fire. From blazing red at the bottom, to hot orange at
the top, the straps holding up the piece has been dyed a dark yellow to complete
the illusion of fire. Embroidered into the broad straps are sparks of silver
thread, sparkling as the sunlight hit it. 'Legs' are cut off high above the
hips, leaving plenty of the pale skin of her long legs to be seen.
Twisting together in a single loop, around her left shoulder, are two cords
the color of High Reaches Weyr; Black and blue. Midnight's colors, which extends
into a small tail, snaking down the front. Interwoven with the dark cords is
a thread of mahogany, representing her brown lifemate, while a tassle signifies
that she is the Wingsecond of the Wildfire Weyrling Wing.
She is awake, but has been staring off into space for a minute.
Khena is 23 Turns, 3 months, and 17 days old.
Elehu (#19619)
Elehu has grown into womanhood with quite a bit of success. She has curves in
most of the right places, though her body is still a bit on the thin side. Her
slender five and a half foot build has a faint gleam of golden bronze, the visage
or a traveler. Her rich brown, shoulder-length hair contains streaks of gold,
bleached by the sun, that seem to make her hazel-brown eyes shine with an inner
fire. Her hands are small, but her fingers are slender and nimble, well built
for her walk of life.
Gauzy fabric of delicate green hangs from Elehu's neck by slender cords, falling
to just below her chest where it has been tied back securely with another pair
of those flimsy cords. Midriff is quite bare, revealing creamy skin barely touched
by the sun. Fitting snugly at the hips she wears a skimpy pair of shorts, same
fabric but a shade darker in hue, leaving slender legs almost bare. When dry,
the material is quite relaxed in almost a downy state, but when wet... it leaves
little to the imagination.
She is awake and looks alert.
Elehu is 20 Turns, 11 months, and 1 day old.
Khena has dropped her clothes back with her dragon, stashing it in the sack mean for just such a purpose, before stepping into the hot water, pausing a moment before seeing a familiar form through the steam. "Afternoon," she says, keeping her voice low as she moves through the water toward Elehu.
Elehu jumps just a little at the sound of Khena's voice, her fingers lifting the cloth from her eyes a little so she can get a good look at the 'intruder'. But as she finally recognizes the weyrling that lazy smile from before grows a little wider. "Well now, good afternoon Khena. How's my favorite brown rider doing today?" she asks, eyes glimmering softly as she sits up slowly. "Sorry... I didn't expect others to come up here," she hastily adds, perhaps a bit embarrassed about being caught off guard.
"Well, I don't come here often myself," Khena admits, rolling a bare white shoulder as she emmerses herself into the water. "It was Mneoth who suggested I go here today." Now. <<It will be good for you to soak in the warm water a bit.. >> he'd said. "I'm good, by the by. Khor came to visit today. Had a nice chat with him," she continues, wiping sweat from her brow. This water was really /hot/, wasn't it?
Elehu laughs softly a she lets the wash cloth sink into the water a bit. "Ah, and how are Kh'ryn and Mneoth doing? And.. Zylpheth?" she asks, a little less sure of herself on the last name. "And as for this place, it really is best in the winter like this," she adds idly, eyes glancing about slowly. "It's way too humid in the summer. But we have the lake for that." She grins a little as she mentally bumps herself off the boring topic.
Khena closes her eyes for a moment, letting the heat seap into her bones. Maybe it was good to have a long soak. "Oh, Mneoth and Zylph are doing fine. No problem with those two," she notes opening her eyes again to look Elehu up and down. Just looking *wink*. "And Khor's one of the better 'lings in our wing. He'll do just fine once we join the real wings."
Elehu smiles softly as she slips down into the water once more, eyes closing as she nods. More of a roll of the head, really. "Well, that's good to hear. I must admit, I'm quite curious to find out where you all end up once you graduate," she comments, eyes opening just a sliver as she grin at Khena. "But whatever happens, I hope you'll be happy there. It can be hard working with others sometimes..." Legs stretch out in front of her as she pushes off a bit to just float on her back. "How's the writing coming?"
Khena mmms, muttering something under her breath about wings and new superiors. "It'll be different, I'm sure. We'll be fighting thread in only... Only a few sevendays," she notes, grinning crookedly at the healer. "I'm not really sure all of the weyrlings are ready, though." An almost sad look ripples across her face as she dips under the water getting her hair wet. "I think the writing's coming along fine. You're right about getting some of the stuff inside down in writing."
Elehu stares upwards for a long moment, taking small, slow strokes in the water until she comes up against the edge again and takes a seat on the underwater ledge. "That's very good to hear, Khena. It's wonderful when you find an outlet for your thoughts and feelings. It's just that much more stress you can take out of your day. And as for the weyrlings..." She trails off a little, the look on her face almost pensive as she runs a hand over her hair quickly. "Well, sometimes you just have to go with it, you know? And sadly enough, not all of them always make it through that first Fall," she finishes quietly, eyes growing a bit dark and haunted as she glances at Khena.
Khena swallows a lump, having not taking into account the fact that some of her clutchmates might not make it. Wondering why the Weyrlingmasters hadn't covered that subject. Looking at Elehu, she nods slowly as she tries to keep that thought tightly locked away in the back of her mind so Mneoth wouldn't get wind of it. "I s'pose you're right about that," she mutters, already thinking of one or two who might just be wreckless enough to damage themselves or their dragons.
Elehu winces a little as she glances at Khena, looking somewhat abashed. "I'm sorry, Khena... I shouldn't have brought that up," she admits, sighing softly. "I guess I just start to take some things for granted eventually. Like death. I suppose growing up in a Weyr has hardened me a bit to it as well," she continues, eyes closing tightly. "Anyway... I'll just keep quiet on that. The future comes without taking our wishes into consideration, doesn't it? No need to worry about it. Or regret the past, for that matter," she adds quietly.
"No.. It's okay, Ele, really. I know people, dragons die in Fall. I've been here long enough to know that," Khena says, eyes fluttering here and there to finally come to a halt looking at the healer. "I just never once considered.. That, that one of our clutchmates might die." Not that she /liked/ all of them, but they still mattered to her, and to Mneoth. "It just never occurred to me...."
Elehu smiles softly, shoulders shrugging a little to create a small ripple of waves. "Well... um. How's that new weyr of yours working out?" she asks in a sudden shift of conversation, a faint blush spreading over her cheeks. "I was thinking the other day of asking Gid about furniture. I've never needed much myself, but if you want, he's really good at finding those kinds of things."
"Oh, it's a great place," Khena says, picking up on the new subject easily, as much to hide her dark thought from Mneoth by replacing them with something else as to get her own mind in a more positive state. "We don't really need furniture. We've managed to salvage some chairs, y'know, for the table. That's really all we need," she says, sliding out of the pool to sit on the edge, the heat finally getting to her. "You wanna come see it again?" she asks, tilting her head to one side, a grin forming on her lips.
Elehu laughs softly, giving a little shrug. "Well, I don't know. Sometimes it's nice to have little extras about the place. Though if it were me, I'm much more likely to add little bits over the Turns as I find them. I guess I just like my own space to be... well, /mine/ I suppose," she finally comments with another silly little laugh. "A couch or sofa is fine but if it's just the right one..." She winks at Khena and sits back again, toes lifting to splash idly in the water. "Ooh, we should do a winter picnic."
Khena chuckles, looking down herself, then Elehu. "Oh... Good idea. My clothes are back by Mneoth," she notes almost coyly grinning at the healer, who's wearing even less than she. Looking around, she doesn't immediately see any other clothes Elehu might have brought with her. "Where'd you like to go? We are allowed to go between on our own now, y'know? Or we could just stay here..." Though a picnic wouldn't be much without food and drink.
Elehu laughs quickly before dunking underneath the water one last time, slicking her hair back when she reappears. "That would work too. I meant in the weyr. You just get some stuff from the kitchens, build up the fire nice and big and sit around talking like you would at a normal picnic, she explains with an almost girlish look on her face. "But, maybe it's silly. My brother and I did it all the time. I suppose ::betweening:: to a real place is better than pretending though."
Khena tilts her head slightly, looking at Elehu as she explains her idea of a weyr-picnic. "Sounds like a good idea actually.. Having it in the weyr," she says, climbing out of the pool padding toward the meadows, hoping Elehu follows close behind. "I mean, it's as good a place as any and we won't have to dress for betweening." Looking over her shoulder, she gives the healer a wink then turns back, giving Mneoth a mental note to get ready to return to the Weyr.
Elehu chuckles softly as she wades towards the near end of the pool and grabs a towel, scrubbing her hair with it quickly while stepping out. Then with an even quicker job for the rest, she all but jumps into her normal clothes. It's still winter, warm water or not. "Ooh, and I won't have to walk back to the Weyr," she comments, trotting to catch up to Khena as she slides into her coat. "So, what shall we put on the menu?"
Khena climbs out of the pool to stand by its edge.
You slip out of the pool to stand on the edge of the stream.
Lower Alpine Meadows (#9134)
The hills are alive, with the sound of water: water gurgles merrily down through
the scrub-forest and continues west, towards the weyr. And the spit and bubble
of thermal-pools beckons with a coy flicker of steam and the promise of hot-water.
A small waterfall splashes off to the east, where the trail rises higher towards
the distant glacier.
It is a spring afternoon. The sun begins to rise up over the horizon and sets
the grass afire sparkling off of the dew. Orange, pink and purple rays spread
across the sky, turning a few high cirrus clouds into brilliant fingers of color.

The trail follows the stream for awhile, and then switchbacks up. Up. Up!
Upper Alpine Meadows (#4450)
A vast alpine meadow stretches to the foot a glacier, flanked by the flat reach
of a dozen more peaks; snow lurks at the higher elevations, capping the valleys
in thick, endless layers of ice and new-fallen flakes. In contrast, during the
spring and summer months a carpet of wildflowers spreads over a base of springy
green turf, perfect for picnics and days outdoors. A small stream runs off towards
the distant weyr, running cool and clear from out of the nearby blue-toned glacier.

Khena makes her way up to Mneoth, unlatching the sack attached to a buckle on his straps, digging through it to find a towel. "Might have thought to bring this with me," she mutters, scrubbing her body rapidly, then gives the hair a light run-through. Hopping on first one, then the other foot, she pulls on thick woolen sock, then trousers on boots. Digging out tunic and jacket she pulls those on as well, then stuffs the wet towel into the sack. "I haven't that much in the weyr. Just a little bread and smoked wherry. Y'know enough to have breakfast without having to go to the living caverns. I still have the wine and ale, though, so we could just get some rolls and such?" The brownrider's not exactly the most culinary genius in the weyr, being used to living off travel rations most her life. "Or whatever we can find in the kitchens..."
Elehu shrugs into her coat a little more as a small gust comes down off the mountains and grins at Khena. "That sounds excellent, actually. We might even be lucky and get some fresh bread." She waves to Mneoth quickly, giving the brown a flash of a grin. "Good afternoon, Mneoth. Enjoying the weather? Good thing the snow will stick around for a while longer, hmm?" she adds as she turns back to Khena.
Mneoth rumbles his eyes whirling slowly with blues and greens. This weather was very nice indeed if anything could be told by the browns bodylanguage. Grinning Khena ties off the sack, attaching it to its buckle again, then makes ready to mount. "He says to tell you that it's lovely weather, but he's heard the snow'll melt soon. He doesn't agree with that," she says, glancing at her lifemate as she furrows her brow. "Sorry to tell you this, love, but the snow really does melt..." Mneoth's facial expression turns almost sad, though the color in his eyes doesn't change. Shaking her head Necha turns back to Elehu. "Need a leg up?"
"Nah, I think I can manage," Elehu answers with a small grin as she begins hauling herself up. "And you know... there's always snow somewhere. Maybe you can go find some someday. Just north of Telgar if you go up into the Barrier Ridge there's always snow in the mountains, and more beyond from what I've heard."
With Mneoth lending a weary forearm, you have no trouble getting to a stable seat between his neckridges.
Mneoth lends a weary forearm for Khena to climb to a stable seat between two neckridges.
Khena chuckles as she follows Elehu to take a seat between Mneoth neckridges, the dragon rumbling in such a manner that she feels the vibrations underneath her. "He's very happy to hear that," she says over her shoulder to the healer. "Ready?" she asks, not waiting for answer before giving Mneoth the order to take off.
[And skipping ahead...]
Mneoth's Matrix
Located two thirds up the wall of the Weyr, the view from this ledge is excellent.
Looking up, up, up, over one's head, the Spires can be seen reaching toward
the sky above. Below, the Bowl is spread out beneath one's feet, making any
activity on the ground visible. The ledge itself is wide enough to hold two
dragons, and deep enough to accommodate them comfortably, though only the left
side hold the tell-tale hollow of many generations of dragons lounging there.

Mneoth crouches low as you shift to the ground below.
Mneoth crouches low, a sigh escaping his lungs, to allow Khena to shift to the ground.
Elehu hugs the small bundle of cloth-wrapped bread to her chest as she makes a rather ungraceful landing on the ledge, skidding a foot or two with a soft giggle. "Shall we?" she asks, nodding with her head towards the weyr. Far be it from her to invite herself inside.
"Let's," Khena says, grinning as she steps around Elehu to hold aside the heavy canvas. "Never mind wiping your boots, there's no carpets in there anyway. Everything comes away with a good sweep of the broom." She takes a good sniff as the healer passes, taking in the scent of fresh-baked bread. "Smells good."
You go to the Shadowed Solitude.
Shadowed Solitude (#11698)
Shadows dominate this weyr as only a few glowbaskets have been placed along
the rough, unpainted walls. Spacious enough to accommodated both rider and dragon,
only a few pieces of furniture crowds the floor space; A large table, made from
a slab of oak wood with four posts attached to it for legs, seats six, though
only four chairs are placed around it. Toward the back of the weyr, an alcove
has been cut out of the stone, making a sleeping space for Khena, her furs and
pillows spread out to make her comfortable at night, while a rounded depression
to the left of the entrance seems fitted to a dragon's body, two large pegs
set in the wall, big enough to hang the dragon's straps on. To the right side
of the entrance, a circle of stones keeps a fire contained, a necessity in the
Reaches winter, though it fills the weyr with a constant smell of smoke, mixed
in with the scent of dragon. A few shelves have been cut out of the rock, providing
space for a rider's belongings to be displayed for visitors. Letting in only
slivers of light, a large oiled canvas hangs from the entrance, keeping out
most of the harsh freezing weather, while just beside the entrance several small
pegs allow for rider and visitors to hang their overclothes.
It is a spring afternoon. The sun begins to rise up over the horizon and sets
the grass afire sparkling off of the dew. Orange, pink and purple rays spread
across the sky, turning a few high cirrus clouds into brilliant fingers of color.
On the ledge, you see Mneoth and one person.
You see Khena's Box, Stuffed Firelizard, Aya, Flasket of Tillek Sweet Cider,

Khena treks in from the Mneoth's Matrix.
Elehu nods quickly as she ducks inside. "It does indeed. We must have perfect timing, getting there just when they're putting the food out for dinner," she comments, setting the bread on the table. And despite the rider's previous comment, she slides her boots off anyway. "It's fun walking around in socks," she explains with a wink, wiggling her toes a little for emphasis. "Right, so... what should I do?" she asks, turning to her hostess.
Khena grins, following Elehu's example by pulling off her own boots, though she rarely does it when she's alone. "If you'll just slice the bread, I'll find some mugs and the ale... 'less you want wine?" Of course, as anyone knows, the brownling preffered ale to wine, but would accomodate guest. Especially guests who'd provided her with wine. "I don't have any glasses yet, though.. There's a knife on the shelf right there, Ele," she notes pointing to a shelf right above the table, where most other of the rider's utencils were. What little there was.
"Oh, ale would be fine, thank you," Elehu replies as she goes to get the knife. "It's hard to find a really decent one though, so... knowing what you might be offering, I think I'll give it a try," she adds, winking at the rider as she takes a seat a the table and begins slicing half the loaf.
Khena chuckles as she moves to the back of the weyr, in the deepest shadows, where she hides the box with drinkables. Grabbing the bottle of ale, she stokes the fire on her way back, putting a few more logs on the almost dead embers. Finding a couple of mugs, she sets them down on the table, uncorking the bottle to pour both mugs with a healthy amount of liquid. "This is actually a bottle P'rru brought me. Tillekian," she says, taking the seat across from Elehu, snagging a piece of bread taking in its aroma before biting into it. "Mmm, still warm."
Elehu laughs lightly, actually taking a small whiff of the ale before taking her own slice of bread. "His taste in ale is probably better anyway," she teases, laughing again before taking a small nibble from the bread, followed by a sip of the ale... which she certainly seems to appreciate, her eyes growing a bit wider. "Well now," she's able to comment after a moment. "Not bad at all... I might have to ask P'rru about this stuff. He must have connections in Tillek." She takes another drink, eyes twinkling softly with amusement as she glances at Khena. "He must just adore you too, to be handing out such fantastic gifts."
Khena laughs too, eyes catching the light from a glowbasket as she watches Elehu samples the ale. "I think he's got a standing deal with the vintners at Tillek," she says, grinning as she takes a good swig of the ale herself. "Though he prolly keeps the really good stuff to himself." She suspected that the brownrider must have a winecellar of some sort in his own weyr. Setting the mug down, she leans across the table to grab another slice of bread, her fingers hesitating, but moves for the bread instead of Elehu's hand.
Elehu sits back slowly, mug balanced between her fingertips as she takes another slow sip, lips curving in a bit of a grin. "Now that would be something... carving your own little cellar into your weyr." She laughs suddenly and shakes her head. "It's a good thing I don't have the room, I suppose. Kariel does, and her certainly utilizes the extra 'storage space'." She places the mug down on the table and finishes the slice of bread slowly, glancing around the weyr slowly, gaze resting on the fire for a moment before she stands up, licking the fingers of one hand as she picks up the mug again and walks over to sit in front of the fire.
Oh, yeah.. The picnic thing. Putting the bottle under an armpit, Khena gets a plate for the bread, putting the knife on the side if more slicing was needed, and then picks up her mug with the other, bringing the whole lot to the fire, kneeling down beside Elehu to set it out. "I could get my sleeping furs if the floors too hard to sit on," she offers, popping another piece of bread into her mouth, chewing it slowly.
Elehu helps move the plate and the bottle out of the way a little before smiling over at Khena and nodding. "Sure, if you want. I should be okay though. See, this is why people put couches or pillows in front of the fire," she teases lightly, giving the weyrling a quick wink as she leans back on a hand, sipping from her mug. "I'm just kidding of course... this is your weyr," she adds a little more softly, glancing around once more with a quick smile before she takes another slice of bread from the plate. "And I like it. It's very.... you."
"Well, I don't s'pose a comfy-chair would get in my way," Khena says, her tone equally teasing as she retrieves a bundle of sleeping furs from her alcove, which she'd at least aquired a mattress for, spreading them out in front of the 'hearth'. "So far, I'm making do with what I've got." Which isn't much, she knows, but then she was used to less. Sitting, she motions for Elehu to move onto the furs as well. If it wasn't any softer, it at least took away some off the chill from the floor. "How're things going for you then, Ele? Not doing too much of your apprentices' work, I hope?"
"You're doing a very good job of that, too," Elehu replies, giving Khena a warm smile as she scoots over onto the furs quickly, lounging back on her side a bit. "Ah, this is very nice. See? Who needs a couch?" she asks, winking at the rider as she knows full well that she brought it up in the first place. She reaches over to top off her mug a bit and gestures with the bottle towards Khena. "Um... work is work, I suppose. Things are calming down again. Mostly we just got caught off guard a little. But once we caught up, things seemed to run more smoothly. But isn't that always the case?"
"Well, I'm glad to hear you're not stressing anymore," Khena says, tilting her body slightly to face the healer. Bringing up her knees, she wraps her arms around them, her eyes still at Elehu. "I was getting worried for a while, y'know?" She plucks at the leather of her pants, managing to get a hold of a loose thread in the seem. "Anyway," she says, forcing a broad smile onto her face, "things should get better, what with spring coming?"
Elehu nods quickly as she tears another small bite off her slice of bread. "Yes, things all around seem to be settling down I suppose," she replies after a long moment, finally glancing up at Khena. A soft smile curves her lips then, her eyes glimmering a little in the firelight. "Anyway... how about you? Things are getting better I hope." She idly finishes off the last of her bread and washes it down with the ale before lying down on her side again, feet stretching out a bit more towards the fire.
Khena swallows a bit of bread, her teeth tearing at another slice even as she does so, buying herself some time before anwering. "I'm doing alright, I s'pose," she finally says, looking down at Elehu, a smile creeping onto her face. "Drills are a little more intense now we know our first real Fall isn't far away. I'm not sure if it's an advantage or disadvantage to be so high-strung..."
Elehu smirks a little before she glances up at Khena. "One of my old teachers used to say 'Embrace the lesson'" she intones in a mockingly high-pitched, scratchy voice. "I think what he meant was that you shouldn't worry so much about doing everything correctly, but just concentrate on knowing what you should know, doing what you can do, and do better next time. Or something like that," she adds with a quiet laugh, smothered a bit in her ale. "I'm not making any sense."
Khena frowns, then bursts out laughing. "No.. I truly have no idea what you're talking about," she says in between spasms of laughter, which she tries to drown out by taking a sip of ale, only resulting in sputtering the golden liquid out over her tunic and part-ways her sleeping furs. "Oh, dear. Now look what you've done," she notes, her tone teasing and much lighter in mood by now. "Now I'll have to wash these tomorrow.." Pulling at her tunic, she displays the wet stain, right down the middle, though the smile on her face seems broader than ever.
Elehu tries to take on a rather innocent look, though she can't help but grin just a little. "What?" she asks, sitting up as she sets her mug off to the side. "I'll make it all better, d'you have any towels?" she asks, managing to get to her knees after a little maneuvering. "Well, it made sense at the time anyway. Embracing the lesson I mean." She really does babble once she's started.
"Over there," Khena says, spasms of laughter tapering off as she points Elehu to the appropriate corner. "I only have a few." Which she'd stolen from the baths, but let's not say that outloud. "Embracing the lesson.. Well, I don't think he'd say it if he'd have to repeat the same drill for the hundereth time." Another short spur of laughter overcomes her, her hand coming up to wipe tears out of her eyes. "Oh, I needed a good laugh. Thank you, Ele!"
Elehu moves towards the indicated corner, poking around for a quick moment before finding a small towel. As she returns she arches a brow at Khena, kneeling to rub quickly at the furs. "You think Healers don't do drills and lessons over and over?" she asks, lips quircking into a grin. "I mean we're sort of dealing with the same practice in a way. Saving lives." Heavy stuff. Especially when ale is added.
"I s'pose you're right about that," Khena says, getting to her feet to strip off her wet tunic, making no move to hide her nakedness from Elehu as she digs though her make-shift clothes chest to find a clean, dry one. Pulling it on as she turns, she goes back to the healer's side, snagging the towel away from her. "You really don't have to do that," she says, grinning, "I'll get it clean enough tomorrow. "It's not as if it's the only one I've got!" She indicates the alcove, well-stocked in sleeping furs. And if it was one thing the former guard was well-endowed with it was furs. "I didn't invite you up here to clean my furs," she says, her tone mock-indignant.
Elehu watches Khena for a moment, finally giving up the towel with a laugh. "But I'm so good at cleaning," she replies with a soft little smirk. "I'll just stay on this side then where it's nice and dry," she adds, grinning before she takes a sip of her ale again. "Unless you'd rather let this one dry and use another one," she adds as an afterthought, glancing over at the other sleeping furs. "I'm still quite capable of getting to my feet."
Khena goes to snag up a clean.. Well, somewhat clean, fur from her bed, spreading it out on the other side of the fire, flopping down on it with a deep sigh. "There.. And there's plenty more where that came from," she notes, patting the empty 'seat' beside her. "Can't do that with a couch, now can you?" A comment that almost has her in spasms again as she swallows another good-sized mouthfull of ale.
"Now /that/ is a very good point, my friend," Elehu replies brightly as she stands up, moving the other fur off to the side. Aww, how helpful. "However, a couch has more padding," she can't help but add, grinning as she kneels down beside Khena again, finally sitting cross-legged. "I really am just teasing about a couch, of course," she adds after a moment, glancing at Khena. "I guess that's just how I am. I tease too much. And talk to much. Teasing and talking is what Ele's do best it seems."
Khena's laugh deminishes to a chuckle which seem perpetual at this point, only interrupted by sip of ale and an attempt of talking. "I'm not sure all guest'll be as accomodating as you, Ele," she says, leaning closer to the healer, eyes sparkling with mirth. "Mebbe I /should/ consider getting a couch up here.. Or at the very least a comfy-chair." Uncorking the bottle, she pours more ale for herself, then tops off Elehu's mug for good measure. No good being the only one stinking drunk at this party.
Elehu raises her mug in a silent toast, her eyes twinkling with quite a bit of amusement. "Well then, here's to future furniture," she says quite cheerfully, adding a quick wink. "I'll be sure to let you know if I see anything. Now that the snow is disappearing I'll be starting my area travels again to the cotholds. They often have little bits and pieces to offer. However, this arrangement seems to do quite well. Accents the weyr in a nice homey way," she adds, yet again falling into that teasing state. She stretches her legs out once more and leans back on one hand, sipping at her ale.
"Homey, eh?" Khena repeats, grinning as she cranes her neck around to take in the look of the place. "Well, compared to the places I've stayed, I s'pose it is." The brownrider's tone is rather teasing as well, her grin getting broader and broader as she speaks until she quells it by sipping her ale, giving Elehu a wink over the rim of the mug. "Please.. Let me know if you have any other great advise?" Another wink as she drains her mug, then flops back on the furs taking a deep breath as she lets the mug fall out of her hand. "Mmmm... This has been a great day," she notes, staring up at the shadowed ceiling.
Elehu chuckles lightly and shakes her head. "No, that's about it," she answers, mouth curved in a silly grin. She then just sips at ale slowly, watching Khena for a moment before she sits up once more. "It really has, hasn't it?" she asks softly, the look on her face an odd mix between a frown and a smile. She takes a long drink from her mug and sets it to the side as she glances towards the fire once more, hugging her knees to herself loosely.
Khena hmmms, her eyes trying to pick shapes out of the shadows in the ceiling. She might just be drunk enough to see /something/ there. "I do enjoy your company, Ele," she says, sitting up. Too fast, making her dizzy her eyes going almost cross-eyed for a moment. "Oy.. I think that's enough ale for me tonight." Grapping a handful of fur, she steadies herself, managing a grin at Elehu as her eyes return to normal. A worried rumbles can be heard from the outside as her eyes glaze over for a moment. "No, I'm alright, Mneo.. Just a little drunk."
Elehu quirks a brow a little in Khena's direction then glances out towards the ledge. "Oh... I didn't think... Well, do you need any help, Khena?" she asks, pushing herself to her feet. "And yes, I think that's probably quite enough ale for one night." Though she isn't having a whole lot of trouble on her own feet. Perhaps she hadn't had as much to drink.
"You're leaving?" Khena asks sounding disappointed as she gets to her feet with a fair amount of struggle, and not without the aid of Elehu's hand. Well, she wasn't getting anywhere without her and Mneoth was she? The brownling could keep her here forever without letting her back to the ground. Dsalth had done it, why not Mneoth? A deep, dissatisfied rumble from the ledge announces that the dragon obviously does not agree with his rider's thoughts. "Oh, very well, Mneo," she mutters under her breath, giving Elehu a bright smile. "He says I can't keep you here," she explains to the healer, giving her a good-natured wink.
Elehu blinks once before giving a soft laugh in reply. "Now why would you want a silly healer who talks too much up here anyway?" asks, pausing for a moment before shaking her head and moving to put her boots back on. "Forget it, silly question. And... it's not exactly like I have a choice. I mean, if I /can/ get back down, I'd better," she mumbles quickly, stomping the boots in a little better. "If I miss a shift right now Kariel will kill me, I'm sure." Of course, she didn't exactly remember she was even on duty until long after they started with the ale.
"We can't have that now, can we," Khena says, leaning against the table as she pulls on her boots, grinning foolishly at the healer. Somebody's definately had too much to drink. "Just promise you'll come visit again, will you?" Walking to retrieve her jacket off it's peg, she wavers only slightly in her step, but enough for any who knows her that she's off her key. Frowning she turns, to look Elehu right in the eye. "You did promise to help with the decorating once. I remember that..."
Elehu slides into her coat, nodding slowly. "I did indeed. So that means I /have/ to come back, now doesn't it?" she asks with an almost lazy grin. "But, that'll have to wait, I'm afraid. If I'm to make it through this next shift I'm going to need a pot of klah in the infirmary." She begins walking towards the ledge, but stops just a few feet short, turning to smile up at Khena. "Thank you for the picnic, Khena."
Khena chuckles, her eyes shining, and not only with the alcohol in her system. "It was your idea, Ele," she says as she comes forward to move out onto the ledge. Good thing it's a broad ledge, eh? "And I'll have you back here in no time," she continues, voice taking on a teasing tone, as she lifts the canvas finding Mneoth blocking the way to the ledge's drop-off point. "Oh don't be silly, Mneoth. I'm not going to fall off," she says, stepping out onto the narrow space left between weyr-opening and dragon.
