Mneoth's Matrix (#15829)
Located two thirds up the wall of the Weyr, the view from this ledge is excellent.
Looking up, up, up, over one's head, the Spires can be seen reaching toward
the sky above. Below, the Bowl is spread out beneath one's feet, making any
activity on the ground visible. The ledge itself is wide enough to hold two
dragons, and deep enough to accommodate them comfortably, though only the left
side hold the tell-tale hollow of many generations of dragons lounging there.
It is an autumn afternoon. The sun slowly begins to descend; the grey clouds
overhead seemed to have stretched this day interminably. A light breeze stirs
the air slightly.
Inside the weyr, you see one person.
Brown Mneoth is here.

Mneoth (#19001)
Myrrh and mahogany fuse together across muzzle and headknobs, entwine about
prominent eyeridges, and sweep all silk and sisal down the grand lengths of
this broad and ponderous dragon. Lighter klah-brown erodes the sharp edges of
his powerful neckridges before dissolving into the brooding layers of umber
sweeping his belly and forelegs. His smooth, suave hide speckles to bronze across
the rounded curves of his withers, as if momentarily blessed by the sun. Wingsails
- wide and high - are cloaked in a marbling of black, gray, and fawn, to create
a secretive cove of shadows and covert camouflage.
Black-dyed straps are looped twice around mahogany neckline, fitting tightly
enough to prevent slipping in swift aerial moves. Though glossy black, the color
blends in well with the dragon's brown hide, adding to the darker patches, matching
without being imposing. Metallic buckles add flashes of reflected light to the
overall image, giving the strap-design an edge of starkness, softened only by
the un-dyed rider's straps used to secure the rider to the dragon when flying.
Mneoth is 3 Turns, 2 months, and 13 days old.
He is 66 feet (22m) long, with a wingspan of 110 feet (36m).
Mneoth seems to be listening.
Elehu slides easily from Lochth's green hide then turns to give Ness a quick wave. "I should be right back," she assures the young rider before turning to smiles at Mneoth. "Hello there," she offers in a tone bordering shy. "I, uh... have to drop some things off for Khena." She steps lightly towards the weyr entrance. "I don't suppose you could let her know I'm here...
Shadowed Solitude (#11698)
Shadows dominate this weyr as only a few glowbaskets have been placed along
the rough, unpainted walls. Spacious enough to accommodated both rider and dragon,
only a few pieces of furniture crowds the floor space; A large table, made from
a slab of oak wood with four posts attached to it for legs, seats six, though
only four chairs are placed around it. Toward the back of the weyr, an alcove
has been cut out of the stone, making a sleeping space for Khena, her furs and
pillows spread out to make her comfortable at night, while a rounded depression
to the left of the entrance seems fitted to a dragon's body, two large pegs
set in the wall, big enough to hang the dragon's straps on. To the right side
of the entrance, a circle of stones keeps a fire contained, a necessity in the
Reaches winter, though it fills the weyr with a constant smell of smoke, mixed
in with the scent of dragon. A few shelves have been cut out of the rock, providing
space for a rider's belongings to be displayed for visitors. Letting in only
slivers of light, a large oiled canvas hangs from the entrance, keeping out
most of the harsh freezing weather, while just beside the entrance several small
pegs allow for rider and visitors to hang their overclothes.
It is an autumn afternoon. The sun slowly begins to descend; the grey clouds
overhead seemed to have stretched this day interminably. A light breeze stirs
the air slightly.
On the ledge, you see Mneoth.
You see Khena's Box, Flasket of Tillek Sweet Cider, Jar of Sweesticks [Kinecha],
a couch, Midnight Chipped Sediment, and Aya here.
Khena is here.

Alcove --- Ledge
Elehu (#19619)
Elehu has grown into womanhood with quite a bit of success. She has curves in
most of the right places, though her body is still a bit on the thin side and
heartily built, a stubbornness of physicality to match the resolute bedrock
of her character. Her skin glows faintly of golden bronze, the visage of a wanderer.
Her rich brown, shoulder-length hair contains streaks of reddish gold, bleached
by the sun, that seem to make her hazel-brown eyes shine with an inner fire.
Her hands are small, but her fingers are slender and nimble, well built for
her walk of life.
Soft leather pants cover Elehu's legs from hips to heels, the materiel well
tanned to a supple texture, taking on the light shade of milky klah. Carefully
spaced black stitching lines the hems keeping the leather formfitting, and yet
leaving them pleasantly loose. Peeking out at the cuffs is a hint of downy soft
lining, meant for keeping her nice and warm. An almost flowing blouse of creamy
lavender has been tucked into the trousers and opens about a quarter's length
down, sleeves neatly buttoned at the wrists but easy enough to roll to the elbows
when needed. Over that there is a sturdy black vest made of oiled leather that
falls just above the dark brown belt, tanned to match her boots.
A soft cord of the deepest purple winds itself around a similar cord of bright
white in a single loop. Small strands of icy blue and shadowy black are intertwined
intricately, a long tail of all four colors hanging from the knot, signifying
that Elehu is a Healer Journeyman posted at High Reaches Weyr.
She is awake and looks alert.
Elehu is 22 Turns, 6 months, and 21 days old.
Khena (#20839)
The most striking feature of this woman is probably her near-white blonde hair.
Cropped short to within three inches of her scalp, it is not worn for style,
but rather practicality. Gray-green eyes sit at each side of a slightly crooked
nose in a face with a square jaw and a strong chin. A scar following the line
of her right cheekbone stands out white against her tanned skin, while high
arched brows angle over her eyes. Standing at almost 6 feet, her body is trimmed
and well-trained with hardened muscles of arms and legs. Her usually flat belly
has been replaced by the much-widened girth of pregnancy.
The dark-gray tunic, which falls loosely from Khena's shoulders, widens at the
middle to allow space for her extended belly. Refusing to wear dresses; the
rider wears a pair of black canvas trousers with a much-enlarged waist, a red
cord encircling them at the midriff to keep them up. Falling loosely around
her legs to come over a pair of short wherhide boots, the seem to fit quite
well, despite the size of the rider's belly. Scintillating in colors ranging
from deep mahogany to an almost bronze gleam, her rider's jacket does not quite
close at the front, but is still worn with pride.
Twisting together in a single loop around Khena's left shoulder is the two colors
of High Reaches Weyr. Black and blue. Midnight's colors, which extends into
a long tail, dangling from the top of the knot. Intertwined with the dark colors
of the Weyr is a dazzling silver thread, adding a spark of light to the knot.
Completing the knot of a High Reaches Wingrider, is a mahogany thread, indicating
the color of her lifemate, and the badge of Mudslide Wing.
She is awake and looks alert.
Khena is 25 Turns, 9 months, and 2 days old.
Khena has no apparent threadscoring.
Khena's back is turned to the entrance as the canvas is turned aside and visitors enter. Turning to face the other, she can't keep a slight smile from her face as she lays eyes on the Healer, "hello, Ele," she says, taking a few steps closer. "Mneoth said you're bringing some things? The clothes I left in your room?"
Elehu nods slowly, holding out the mentioned bundle. "That's right. I would have brought it earlier, but I've been in the infirmary ever since, I swear, and then there's the matter of finding a ride," she rambles on with a little smile.
Mneoth slinks resolutely in from the Mneoth's Matrix.
"I could've gotten it myself," Khena says, taking the bundle from the healer to desposite it on a cleared shelf, turning in time to see her lifemate push his way into the weyr? "Ledge getting too crowded, love?" she asks, moving toward the brown with a loving look in her eyes. "D'you want anything, Ele? Wine? Ale? Water?"
Elehu laughs softly and shakes her head a little. "No, I'm all right, thank you. Besides, Ness and Lochth are probably waiting for me, so..." She frowns a little and glances back toward the ledge. "Well, you know, asking a favor and then making them wait and all. Or I could just tell them I don't need a ride back down."
Mneoth rumbles affectionately to his lifemate, stretching out across part of the weyr, his bottom half lying in the ledge still. He's lazy and relaxed. The brown reaches out to nudge Elehu, both inspecting and approving of her within the same few moments. Calm blue eyes settle on his 'mate and his low voice purrs from the depths of his throat. Nice Healer type.
"I'm sure Mneoth'd be happy to take you down." Eventually. Stepping toward the canvas-hanging Khena's hand moves along her lifemate's side. Ducking her head outside the weyr, a few muffled words escape inside about the pair not being needed anymore.
Elehu laughs softly at Mneoth's little inspection and nods to Khena. "Sounds fine," the healer comments quietly, standing rather awkwardly for a moment. "So... been keeping busy?" A slow pause. "Have you talked to Kariel yet? He really knows his stuff when it comes to what to do when you're pregnant. You know... eating and stuff."
"No," Khena responds to Elehu's question on speaking with Kariel. "I don't really know him that well." Reason enough for the brownrider to avoid going to speak with said Healer. "I still have a lot of those hides to go through," she continues, motioning toward a table filled with stacks of skins.
Mneoth tips his large head to one side, taking another good look of the visitor before delivering his gaze upon Khena, eyes whirling with silent conversation. Elehu is given another cautious nudge-whuffle before Mneoth lies his head back down against the cold rock, his sides heaving with a heavy sigh.
Elehu's look becomes stern for a brief moment as she turns to regard the rider for a moment. "Now really, there's no need to get to /know/ a Healer before you talk to them. It's strictly a healer-basis, not a friendship-basis," she explains, frowning just a bit. "And if you /don't/ you could actually be harming that child of yours," she adds, gesturing to Khena's midriff before she can turn to curiously watch Mneoth for a moment. But obviously having no clue what that was all about, she simply turns back to Khena.
Khena shrugs as she takes a seat by all those hides, glancing from Elehu to her lifemate and back again. "I s'pose you're right. I'm just... Not real comfortable around him, y'know?" Another glance at her lifemate, she furrows her brow, then shakes her head at him. "I can tell him to go out on the ledge if you want?" she asks of the Healer.
Mneoth breathes his musky dragonbreath on Elehu, rising up as best he can in the doorway. /His/ Khena would never harm the Hatchling. His attention is quickly swinging to Khena and he withdrawls his arguement against the comment, cautiously settling back down, large wings shuddering slightly. He snorts a retort to his lifemate. Mneoth wants to /staaayyy/. Pout.
Elehu crosses her arms tightly as she gives Khena another long look and finally just shrugs a little. "Maybe I can get him to write up a list or something," she finally mumbles, shifting just a bit as Mneoth moves. She eyes the dragon warily but shakes her head just a tiny bit. "No, of course not. It's your weyr," she says quietly, presumably to both rider and dragon.
Khena gives Mneoth a stern look as she nods to Elehu's comments, "that would be nice, yeah," she say, her eyes gliding back to look at the Healer. "He needs to remember his manners." Picking up the top-most hide of the pile in front of her the rider slowly scans the page, then puts it in a new pile. Reaching out for the next, she takes a deep breath and looks up at Elehu, "I.. I want to apologize for the other day... I didn't mean to run out like that." Apologizing a lot lately, isn't she?
Mneoth cranes his neck around so he might nuzzle his wingjoint, attention shooting towards Khena with that deep 'I heard that but I'm going to pretend I don't care' sort of look although the hush of his wings rustling against a portion of dry scales on his flank reveal his attempt to regain pride.
Looking even a bit more awkward as Khena sits down to apparently work, Elehu just tries to stand as still as possible, looking a bit stiff in effect. "Um... it's all right, really. I ended up having to cover a shift in the infirmary anyway, so..." Right, avoiding the subject again. "Khena, I hope I didn't hurt you... too much," she blurts out haltingly.
Khena's eyes divert to look at the hide again, though she doesn't appear to be reading. Swallowing, she looks up to glance over at her lifemate, "don't beat up to much wind, Mneoth. I don't want to have to do this again," she says, motioning to the hides on the table. Hesitating further, she gets off her chair once more, moving toward Elehu, "it's just... I guess I was hoping for more..."
Mneoth shuffles his wings once more a little less actively than before. He's being good, honest. His heavy head dips back to inspect a green making her way back to her ledge, the two women in his own weyr momentarily ignored.
Elehu glances at Mneoth for a moment before she gives an almost silent sigh and glances at Khena. "I know," she admits, arms tightening about herself a little more. "I just wanted to be honest with you. As much as I can, at least. I just don't know what's going on anymore. Who I am, what it is I'm supposed to do... and I can't burden someone else with that."
"Everybody asks themselves that," Khena says, her tone almost angry as she gives a quick glance at her lifemate, "stop fishing for gossip, Mneoth!" Deciding to do her best at ignoring the brown for now, the rider turns back to Elehu. "And I wouldn't mind helping, y'know?" she continues, her voice kept low and hopefully level.
Mneoth rumbles in slight pain hidden 'neath a pitiful layer of false annoyance and backs slowly and carefully out of the weyr, moving across the ledge to his couch, the flair of flizzens which had been attracted to the ledge fleeing as his form lumbers over them.
Mneoth slinks resolutely to the ledge.
Elehu frowns a little and looks away, studying the back of the couch for a long moment. "And what if I decide I can't move on," she replies, voice just a shade above a whisper as she gives Khena a guarded look. "I haven't yet, I know that. And is that fair to you?" She pauses a long moment as Mneoth moves back out to the ledge.
"How would /I/ know," Khena says as she turns away from Elehu to move deeper into the shadows, ignoring the fact that Mneoth left without giving her a reason. "The only real relationship I've ever been in was with.... Reiko." Turning in the deep shadows, she grimaces while arms go around her chest. "And that didn't turn out too well," she continues, not realizing the irony of the statement.
Elehu's face softens a little as her own arms finally relax and fall to her sides, the healer leaning against the back of the couch as she watches Khena move away again. "I just don't want to hurt you if I can avoid it," she says in a quiet voice, though there's still a bit of tension in it.
"But..." Khena starts, stopping again when she can't find the right words. Moving again, she slips around the couch to take a seat, her eyes turning to look at Elehu. "What if it hurts /not/ being with you," she finally manages to says, eyes quickly moving away again to avoid seeing a reaction she might not like.
"Would it hurt more if I ended up...." Elehu pauses, eyes closing tight for a moment as she shakes her head. She alters what she'd been about to say and sighs softly, turning to study the rider's profile a moment. "Khena, right now I just can't. I can't do that to you or to me," she finishes, rather lamely.
Khena's head drops, chin touching her chest for a long moment as she breathes deeply and slowly. "Could you ever?" Looking up, her eyes are almost defiant as she stares at Elehu with her head tilted to the side and her mouth set in a
Elehu slowly comes around the end of the couch to sit at the other end of the couch, turning to face Khena. "Could I? Yes... I'm just saying /right now/ I can't do anything, Khena. I never said never," she adds, a tiny smile curving her lips as she watches the rider. "I just... I want to be careful about things like this if I can help it. I wasn't at all with.... well, the last time."
Khena nods. Once, head going up, then down and then turns aside to look away from Elehu. "Aye," she simply says, pulling her feet up on the couch. "I've... Waited a long time.. " Cutting herself off, she shakes her head, fingers taking a firm grip on the upholstry of the couch.
Elehu takes a deep breath and stares straight ahead for a moment. "I know you have, Khena. But I can't change my answer right now. I'm sorry." She starts to stand then and turns slightly towards the ledge, though she doesn't move otherwise. "Look, maybe I should just go."
Khena turns her head slightly to the side and down, looking at the empty floor for a long time, before looking up at Elehu. "I wish you'd stay," she whispers, her eyes wavering in their stare at the Healer.
Elehu doesn't move at all, but a stormy cloud of emotions plays across her features for a long moment, her hands pressed tightly to her sides. Very slowly she turns her head to look back at Khena, brows furrowing into a mixed look between worry and confusion. In the end, however, her stubborn resolution to do what's right wins over as the healer briefly shakes her head. "I can't," she simply replies in a whisper.
"I'll have Mneoth take you down, then," Khena answer, her voice quivering slightly as she looks away, eyes clouding over as she bespeaks her lifemate. "Unless you'd rather have him call Lochth and Ness?" Breathing out an unsconsciently held breath, the brownrider gets off the couch to move back at the table, looking over the hide, trying her hardest to look and sound casual.
"No... Mneoth is fine," Elehu replies just as forcibly casual. Provided he doesn't accidentally drop her. *cough* "I'll see you around, Khena. And I'll get that list of things from Kariel." She takes a slow breath and finally looks at the rider for a long moment, opening her mouth as if to say more, but with a jerk of her head she starts for the ledge.
Khena turns, just in time to see Elehu leave, and takes a step toward the ledge, but stops again, turning back to the hides crowding the table. "I'll see you, Ele," she whispers, words meant for her own ears.
