Elegie is a 5-piece pop/rock/folk/progressive act, based in Ringebu, Norway.
The band's musical style embraces virtually everything from hard rock,
jazzy pop-rock, to folky and classically influenced music - sometimes in one song!!
Their reportoire is made up of both own material and the occasional cover tune.
Musical influences to this band are the likes of Faith No More, Live, Pearl Jam,
Dave Matthews Band, Jethro Tull, Genesis and Queensryche(!).

The band was originally formed for a one-off performance at a contest called
Ungdommens Kulturmnstring late 1997. However, that particular performance
went so well that the guys decided to continue playing together and make music.
Later that same year, Elegie played at the county finals of that same contest
- and at the Norwegian Rock Contest, where they earned a 5th place in the finals
for the 4 Eastern Norway counties.

In the winter and spring of 1998, Elegie recorded 2 demo CD's - "Elegy" and "Whatever"
at Marcello soundstudio, Vinstra - both produced by the band.

In the autumn of 2000, Elegie became a trio, following the "retirement" of bass player
Trond Moe and guitarist Roy Moen. Due to this development, Elegie has now
become more of a "studio" project. New songs are being recorded at the moment, and
should be completed by spring 2001. Although no longer a full time member, bassist
Trond does some session work on these new recordings.

Current lineup:

Frank
Frank Asle Mathisen
The vocalist in the band. Occasionally writes a few lyrics.
Frank has previously been a member of local band Loff og Lkk, as
well as having done some amateur theatre work.

Frank
Bent Bredeveien
Bent plays keyboards and guitars in Elegie. He is one of the
main songwriters as well, aside from being the head studio engineer and producer.
Like Kenneth, Bent is a member of local rock combo GAG, and has for several
years been playing with Norwegian violin talent Martine Lund Hoel.

Kenneth
Kenneth Aspeslen
Like the potato, this dude can be used for almost everything.
Mainly a drummer and vocalist, but also quite capable of playing guitar and
bass as well. Kenneth is Elegie's main composer, arranger and lyricist - and is
also Bent's extra set of ears when it comes to recording and mixing studio work.
Presently, Kenneth is also a member of GAG, Blakk&Blaa and The Sheelan's.
He also has a "solo project" going under the Watchers On The Storm name.
This fella is also a quite promising stage musical actor, having done leading roles
in musicals such as Chess and FAME.
