Starlit Chains

Starlit chains curl round the sky
As twilight folds to eve
And the heaviness of mortal heart
Falls soft into reprieve.

Shades of silver slowly dance
With the light of lucid moon
...perhaps the glow is from the angels,
who amongst the clouds are strewn.

In swells of cherished memory
A tender flame is held...
All too fleeting were the moments
When here on Earth you dwelled.

Sweet seraphim do hold you now
With wings of cool breeze,
And someplace deep within my heart
I know you fly with ease.

Somewhere past the starlit chains
Which shine like Heavens eyes
You watch amidst the air of grace
As we softly say goodbye.
