It is Final, eKsperim[E]nto 2004 opens on Friday, March 12, 2004!
January 21, 2004 (Manila, Philippines) In yet another challenge to our festival organizers, we were forced to move our date a week after the Cinema Paraiso, a series of screenings of old films organized and sponsored by NCCA. As we all know, NCCA is eKsperim[E]ntos venue sponsor. The Cinema Paraiso screenings share the same venue as eKsperim[E]nto Film & Video Festival. eKsperim[E]nto will now open on a Friday, March 12, 2004 and will run until March 19, 2004, maintaining its original eight-day marathon of cutting edge films, videos and new media from around the world. Cinema Paraiso, a project of the NCCAs Committee on Cinema is supposed to be held during the February Arts month but the project is extended until March 5, 2004. The opening day of the said screenings will have actress Susan Roces (the wife of Philippine cinemas most popular actor and presidential aspirant Fernando Poe Jr.) as their special guest. NCCA is eKsperim[E]ntos venue sponsor and the festival is ran by the non-profit and volunteer group, the Sining-X Art Collective in cooperation with the Cinema Values Reorientation Program (in conjunction with the latters Film Club).

Festival Director Elvert de la Cruz Baares said that this will be the last time that he will give in to the proposed changes. When asked if he will be moving the dates again, he said with sarcasm and a smile, If they will ask us to move our dates again, we shall screen in the middle of the streets of Intramuros and hold our festivals in public restrooms. That would prove to be really cutting edge.a film festival held in the middle of a jammed street and in urinals. Baares with Festival Deputy Festival Director Nerissa Picadizu and the volunteers of the festival see this development as great news to audiences because it will give them a one week break from the barrage of film activities during the February Arts month with festivals like Pelikula at Lipunan Film Festival, Gawad CCP for Independent Film & Video, Japanese Film Festival and many others. eKsperim[E]nto Film & Video Festival 2004 will be the biggest gathering of non-mainstream films, videos and new media from all over the world. Special programs for this year include: Australias experimenta Programs; Focus on Indonesian shorts; Focus on Quebec (Glitch This, Splice That! A Quebec Special); Special Programs on Gender; 3D Computer Graphix and Animation; and, the two touring programs from the Antimatter Festival of Underground Short Films & Videos, Victorias number one source of cutting edge and underground works. The complete selections and programming will be revealed on February 5, 2004. [E]
