NUS Orientation Week O
Day2
Day3 Day4 Day5
Day 1
ACTIVITY:   FLAG DAY
LOCATION:  BISHAN
*confession*
I must admit that I have never walked along any street in Singapore, asking strangers who try to shun me, asking for a coin or two for the various charity organisations in Singapore.

Its only today when I have stepped into the shoes of these people, and I must also admit that its not an easy job to do.
6:20am: I ask myself," why on earth am I up so early?"
Then I say, "you've got to reach NUS by 7:30 because thats when the briefing for the flag day will begin"
"Huh? Flag day?"
"Yup, flag day. To help charity and stuff like that. Its good for the soul".
"Oh, right. Good reason"
Then I kicked myself out of bed.
Briefing was just some rubbish, didn't pay attention to it like usual. Paul and I were just talking amongst ourselves.

Then our OGL, Charmaine came up to us and said "we're going to Bishan to sell flags."
"Huh? Bishan? Where's that? (I'm quite suaku)"
"Somewhere in Singapore"
"Right."
Paul decided to check out somebody's sunglasses. Yeah man, east side! But that isn't where we're going though.
I wonder if these cans are breakable. hmm... Paul's inspecting the cans which we were supposed to collect the money in. Haha... today we're money collectors, tomorrow we're loan sharks... good education we're getting from NUS.
Right after receiving our golden tin cans and free bright yellow T-shirts which I thought were rather funky, we got into the car, shot right down to Bishan, and planted ourselves in Macs where the five hungry mice had breakfast.
Me posing with Paul who is so absorbed with his camera.
From right to left: Me, Sabrina Seow, Qingxiu, Norman (who refused to change his shirt until after some persuasion) and Valerie whos hiding behind my camera.
After a long breakfast,
We finally decided to leave Macdonalds and
Move to somewhere suitable to start doing our bit of charity
We were walking from block to block, but business for us was rather bad. At this very point of time, Norman only had ONE coin. Poor guy...                ------>
Norman looks rather enthusiastic about it all.                                             ----->
A kind hearted little child decided to give Norman his second coin. Say thank you, Norman. <(^o^)>
After a very very very long day of walking around and collecting money, and playing a bit of pool, we decided to give ourselves a nice treat.
AH!! Ice Kachang! Something to cool us down from all the exercise we had while walking around, from block to block, from donor to donor. Daryl (the fella behind the ice kachang) decided to help us order the famous AJ Ice Kachang. Its humongous!

It took the five of us guys to finish it all. And as you can see below, Daryl's all stuffed.
After a even longer day, we all adjourned to Junction 8 Coffee Bean, where we all sat til the sun set. Chilling out to the cool wind, which was not much but good enough for us all, we sat and played 'Black Magic' games which drove me and a couple other people up the wall (not literally).

Not long, I left, it was a rather long day. Looking forward to day 3.
Norman looks so happy to have collected his fair share. And so does Paul too. I'm very happy to have such happy specimens for my photo shoots.
