Episode 32 – Affairs Revealed Part II

Previously on Lives To Live:

Camille lost her and Russell’s baby, after an argument with Cleo. At the hospital, Camille later saw Russell and Judi talking, and revealed to them that she knew all about their affair.

Cleo felt guilty following her and Camille’s argument. She ran out of the hospital, and into Joel’s arms.

Leslie woke up, shocked to discover that she had slept with John Robertson. She then tried to help him get away without anyone knowing, but Chardonnay saw him leaving and realised what had happened. Later she told Leslie that she was going to tell Victor what she’d seen when he got back home.

Celia handed Erin back to Nicole after taking care of her, to give Nicole and Justin a chance to go out for the day. Celia then told Henri that she had to tell Nicole about Justin and Heather.

“I know about you and her…” Camille said, raising her finger and pointing towards Judi.

Russell was silent for a moment, as he took it all in. What does she mean? Does she know?

Similar questions were quickly running through Judi’s mind. She looked at Russell for a moment, their eyes meeting, before he spoke.

“You know what?”

Camille took a deep breath. She knew that there was no going back now. This was it, she’d probably lost Russell. He wouldn’t stay with her now that the baby was gone.

“I know that you two have been having an affair.”

”What? You must have made a mistake.” Judi said, laughing nervously.

“It must be whatever they gave you.”

“I saw the two of you, months ago. In our home, on the sofa.”

“You…”

“Don’t you dare tell me that it is the drugs. I know what I saw. You have been cheating on me Russell.” Camille interrupted.

“I’m sorry. I never wanted it to happen.” Judi started, tears in her eyes.

“I think you should go. I want to talk to my husband.”

“Okay.” Judi said. She turned around and walked towards the door, only glancing back once before she walked out into the corridor. After closing the door she leant against it as a tear rolled down her cheek.

“Judi.” Came a voice. Carla’s.

“She knows.” Judi uttered. Carla placed her arms around her.

“Why didn’t you tell me you’d seen us.” Russell asked inside the room. Camille turned to face him.

“I didn’t want to lose you. I love you.”

“And what do you want now?”

“A divorce.”

Monday, April 21st 2003, The Samson Mansion, Morning

“You are really going to tear our marriage apart like this?”

“I can’t keep this from him. He’s my father.”

Chardonnay Samson opened her eyes, and sat upright in the bed. The thought of telling her father about her mother’s one night stand had been constantly running through her head over the past few days. Gabe and Nate had both noticed that she’d been acting strangely.

As she looked Gabe, Chardonnay knew that things would never be the same again if Leslie told Gabe. Chardonnay remembered how she had learned what her mother was really like.

“Please don’t do this.”

“Mom…”

“If you tell him then I’ll tell Gabe about you and Jean Luc’s kiss.”

“What?”

“Your father told me.”

“Are you okay?” Gabe asked. Her sudden jolt had woken him up. “Worrying about the wedding again?”

She had done her best not to lie to them, saying that Sara’s remarks on how behind everything was when it came to the wedding had been causing her sleepless nights, which was partly true.

“Yeah.” She lied. “I’m just going to get a glass of water.”

“Okay.” Gabe said, lying back down and turning over. Chardonnay got out of their bed and slipped her dressing gown over a nightdress.

As she walked out of the room, she looked down towards her parent’s bedroom, before starting down the stairs. Chardonnay stopped walking as she heard voices and looked down below.

Leslie and Victor were stood just beside the open door, passionately embracing as Frank left down the bags.

As Victor pulled away from the embrace he spotted his only daughter standing near the top of the stairs.

“Chardonnay.” He called out. She took a deep breath and started to walk down the stairs, and closer to her father, as Leslie watched on in dreaded anticipation.

“Hi dad.” Chardonnay said, reaching the bottom step. She quickly fell in her father’s open arms. “How was Washington?”

“Boring. Anything happen at work?”

“No.” Chardonnay said, pulling away. “Look, there is something I need to tell you.”

“What?” Victor asked, seriously.

Chardonnay looked over his shoulder, to her mother.

“I…”

“What is it?”

“I missed you so much.”

Friday, April 25th 2003, Westside High, Lunchtime

Paris Robertson smiled confidently as she walked towards the picnic bench. She was catching the attention of a large group of older boys. She turned and smiled before moving on.

“Hi Paris.”

Paris turned and smiled at April Masters who had caught up with her. “Hi. I haven’t seen you in a while.”

“I was away with my mom. My grandmother was in hospital. Matt stayed here though.”

“Is she better now?” Paris asked.

“Yeah, she’s just hasn’t been well since my granddad’s death. So how are things between you and Nate?”

“What do you mean?”

“You two kissed at Jacob’s party. What’s happened since then? Did he ask you out?”

“No, he…” Paris started, but again heard her name being called. “Nate.”

“Hi. Look, I need to ask you something.”

“Okay.” Paris said, an eyebrow raised.

“I… Would… Do you want to go out tonight? We haven’t really spoken since…”

“Yeah, okay then.” Paris said. “Where?”

“You want to?”

“Yeah, where?”

“I don’t know. How about that new pizza place and then a film?”

“Yeah, okay. What time?”

“Seven?”

“Okay then.” Nate said, as he turned and started to walk away. “See you.”

He couldn’t believe Paris had actually accepted his offer. He really wanted to find out what was going on between them. They had kissed, and then they had fought. But maybe now they could be friends again.

“Okay, that was strange.” Paris said.

“Yeah.” April said sadly, as she watched Nate walking away.

The Golden Dragon Restaurant, Same time

“So are you going to see him?”

“Who?”

“Your mystery man of course.” Sara McCarthy said, a sly smile on her face.

Judi Anders looked up from her menu and rolled her eyes. “I don’t know.”

“What do you mean you don’t know.”

“I don’t know if I want anyone at the moment, especially now that Camille knows everything.”

“Are you working tonight?”

“Yes, but not tomorrow night.”

“So you can go then, can’t you.”

“I… suppose I can.”

“I’d go with you, except I’ve a date.”

“So how are things going between you and…” Judi asked, realising that Sara had never revealed what her man’s name was.

“Great. I really, really like him.”

“What are you going to do when you have to leave though?”

“What?”

“After the wedding.” Judi said.

“I don’t know.. He said those three little words the other night.”

“What three…? Judi asked, before realising what the words were. “Oh, those three little words.”

Sara nodded. “The big ‘I love you’.”

“And what did you do?”

Sara tried to avoid her friend’s gaze.

“Sara?”

“I sort of… didn’t do anything.”

“You ignored it.”

“Yeah, I wanted to say it but I…”

“Don’t love him?”

”No, it’s not that. He’s just the first guy since Drew.”

“Who?”

“My husband.”

“The man you married in Las Vegas and then divorced?”

Sara again avoided Judi’s eyes.

“That’s who you are talking about, isn’t it?”

“Yes, but we’re not divorced.”

Judi was shocked. “What?”

“I lied when I said we’re divorced. I left Drew after it all fell apart, and we haven’t spoken since.”

“Wow.”

“Now you know why I couldn’t tell Al that I loved him. I felt so guilty, he doesn’t even know I was married.”

The Elliot Apartment, Later

“Are you sure you’ve got everything?” Cleo Brady asked her aunt, as they stood by the door.

“Yeah, I’ll be back for everything else when I get an apartment.” Camille Elliot replied.

“Camille, you know that…” Russell Elliot started, but was cut off. Over the past week he and Camille had talked about his affair and the future of their marriage. Despite Russell’s best attempts to persuade his wife that he would never cheat again, she admitted that she would never be able to forgive him. They then had agreed to get a divorce.

“I can’t, this place has too many memories for me.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I can’t stay here, where my baby died.” Camille said. Cleo looked away from her aunt. Camille placed her hand on Cleo’s shoulder, but Cleo pulled away. “I don’t blame you.”

“It’s all my fault.” Cleo said as she ran out of the room.

“I better go.” Camille said, as she turned back to her husband.

“Camille…”

“Goodbye Russell.” She said, without turning around.

The Pizza Place, Downtown, evening

“Hi.” Nate Samson said as he walked up behind Paris Robertson, who was sitting at a table.

“Hey.” Paris said, looking up from the menu. Nate looks nice. She secretly thought.

“Have you ordered?”

“No, I thought I’d wait.”

“Look there’s something I have to tell you.”

Paris was surprised by Nate’s forwardness. “What is it?”

“I’m sorry for what happened.”

“It was my fault as well.”

“It’s just that I really value your friendship, and I don’t want to lose a friend over some stupid kiss that neither of us wanted to happen… Are you okay?”

“Hmm? Yes, I’m just a little warm.” She said, fighting back a tear. She didn’t want to be just friends. She wanted more. She wanted to be with Nate. She really, really liked him.

“So what do you want to eat?”

The Vincent Home, Same time

Celia Laurent pushed the doorbell of her daughter’s home. She knew that what she was about to do would really hurt her daughter, but Nicole had to know this.

“Celia…” Henri interrupted, but before he could continue the door opened. Justin Vincent was standing in the doorway.

“Hi, I didn’t know you two were coming over tonight.” He said, as he continued to do up his tie.

“Are you two going out?” Henri asked.

“Yes, Luc is going to look after Erin.” Justin said, before moving back to allow his in-laws into the house. “Come in. Nic will be down in a second.”

“Good, I’ve got something to tell her.” Celia said, icily.

Justin wondered if it was what he thought. “Is it…?”

“About you cheating on her?” Celia interrupted.

“I…”

“Yes it is.”

“Mom, dad, what are you doing here?” Nicole asked from the top of the stairs.

“Nicole, there is something I need to tell you.”

Nicole started walking down the stairs. “What?”

Celia was silent as she watched her daughter. She turned to Henri for a moment, before returning to Nicole.

“Celia, please don’t do this.” Justin said.

“I have to. I can’t keep this from my own daughter.” Celia replied, reaching out to hold Nicole’s hand.

“Keep what from me? What’s happened?”

“It’s Justin.” Celia started.

Nicole looked towards her husband.

“What is it? Are you sick?” She asked, but he looked away. She turned back to her mother. “Mom, what is it? Please tell me.”

“Oh Nicole. He’s been having an affair.”
