Episode 28 – Explosive Secrets

Previously on Lives To Live:

Judi turned up at Sara’s door, and told her everything about Russell. She then told her about Alex, although she didn’t reveal his name. Sara advised her to try it again with this man, little realising it was Alex. The following day she told Alex about her friend, and he told Sara that her friend should try it again.

Paris and Cleo went shopping, as the former prepared to leave the Samson’s the following day. Joel’s skateboard caused Cleo to fall. Paris was angry, but Cleo was impressed by his friend’s stunts. Paris left, and Cleo joined in with the boys. She then was offered alcohol by Mattie, and accepted.

Melody and Carla talked about Melody’s date. Melody revealed to Carla that Russell’s wife was pregnant. Judi then revealed to Carla that she had two weeks off.

Leslie had a special dinner to celebrate Paris’ final night with the Samson’s. Chardonnay asked Judi about the man she had seen her with a couple of months ago, Kayla “accidentally” spilled sauce on Paris’s new outfit and Victor told Chardonnay that he felt guilty being around Gabe, knowing that she also loved Luc.

Later, at Jacob’s birthday party, Kayla suggested they sleep together. They started, but he pulled away and said that he couldn’t. Cleo and Joel got drunk outside, and shared a drunken kiss after she fell onto him. And the other teenagers played spin the bottle. Paris ended up having to kiss Nate, and she did so.

Sunday, April 6th 2003, Samson Mansion, Morning

“Nate, I love you more than anything or anyone else in the world.”

“Paris, I love you too.” Nate Samson said, as he and Paris Robertson drifted down the river in their Venetian gondola. They moved closer together and shared a soft, slow, sexy, gentle kiss.

Paris suddenly sat bolt upright in bed, realising that she was dreaming. As she lay back down, she remembered the kiss last night, at Jacob’s party, followed by their awkward avoidance of each other afterwards, and the silent ride home.

Meanwhile, a couple of doors down, Nate had just had a similar dream. He too had remembered the previous night.

The Elliot Apartment, Two hours later

“Morning.” Camille Elliot said, smiling. She was still in her dressing gown, sitting at the breakfast table eating breakfast.

“Hi.” Cleo said, groaning, her head throbbing. She had a hangover, following the large amount of alcohol she had drank the previous day.

“Are you okay?” Camille asked, noticing Cleo rubbing her temples.

“I’ve just got a headache.” Cleo said, sitting down and turning on the TV. She too was still in her nightwear. A ringing sound interrupted. Cleo saw her cellphone on the table, vibrating. She reached out and took it up. “Joel ringing” was flashing on the small screen.

“Hi.” She greeted.

“Hey.” Joel said, on the other end.

“So what do you want?”

“I was just seeing how you were after last night.”

“Yeah, I’m okay. I’ve just got a headache.”

“Do you want to go out tonight with us?”

“Where?”

“Well we will meet you in the park, around six. That okay?”

“Yeah, that’s fine.”

“See you later.” Joel said.

“Yeah, see you.” Cleo said, as she pressed the end button.

“Who was that?”

“Oh, just Paris. She wanted to know if I can go out tonight. Can I?”

“Yeah sure. Just don’t be back too late, like last night.”

“Thanks Camille.” Cleo said, as she turned off the TV and stood up. She then walked towards the door, leading to her bedroom, and passed Russell in the doorway.

“Morning.” She said, smiling.

“Hello.” He greeted.

“I think she’s finally getting over him.” Camille started.

“Cleo?”

“Yeah, she hasn’t mentioned Leo in a week or so now.”

The Samson Mansion, 11pm

“Hello.” Victor Samson greeted warmly. His long time friend John Robertson II was standing on the doorstep.

“Victor.” He said reaching out his hand.

“Hello JJ.” Leslie said, interrupting. “Paris is just gathering her things.”

“You are looking as lovely as ever.” JJ said, smiling. He ended his handshake with Victor and walked past him, before picking up Leslie’s hand and kissing it.

Meanwhile Paris was at the top of the stairs with her bags.

“Here, let me help you.” Nate offered, coming up behind her. Paris jumped slightly.

“Nate, don’t do that.”

”Sorry.” He said, reaching for her bags.

“Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.” He said, as they made their way down the stairs.

“About last night.” Paris started.

“Yeah, I’m sorry. I didn’t want it to happen…” Nate said, but realised that he had phrased it the wrong way.

“You didn’t want it to happen? Well that’s fine, because neither did I.”

“I…”

“It’s fine if you don’t like me. I don’t mind because I was just going to say that it was only a kiss, and that we wouldn’t have done it if it weren’t for that game.”

“Yeah.”

“Paris, it’s great to see you.”

“Daddy.” Paris said, leaving down her bags and running towards the other man in her life. They shared a hug. “Where’s mom?”

“She’s at home, catching up on some sleep.”

“And how was the holiday?”

“It was great.” JJ said. “Sorry I haven’t got your presents with me. I’ll bring them over some night.”

“Oh no, it’s fine. We weren’t expecting anything.” Leslie said, smiling.

“Oh, we better be go. I’ll see you soon. We should catch up over a drink.” JJ said.

Monday, April 7th 2003, Westside High School, Lunchtime

“Kayla.” Paris said, without turning around. “What are you doing here?”

“I saw you come in here, and thought that I better make a few things clear to you.” Kayla said, walking towards the sinks to where Paris was applying make up.

“And what are they?”

“You should know.”

“Sorry, I don’t have a clue what you are going on about.”

“Nate, I don’t want you to hurt him.”

“Nate is a good friend of mine. Why would I hurt him?”

“Because, you have a habit of hurting people. And I don’t want my cousin to end up as the next person on your long list.”

Paris smiled.

“What is so funny?” Kayla demanded.

“You, acting as if you actually care about Nate. You are just jealous because he likes me more, now that he knows what a bitch you really are.”

“Strange that he only turned to you when he fell out with me, isn’t it.”

“No, not at all. You treated him like a possession, like you treat your boyfriends. And we’ve always been friends, though we are really close now. Really, really close.”

Kayla narrowed her eyes to slits, as Paris remained cool.

“Now if you don’t mind I have to go. Will you please excuse me?”

“Think you are so smart, don’t you Paris?”

“No, I don’t as a matter of fact. Now will you please excuse me.”

“Not until I’m done with you.” Kayla said, venomously.

“Well that’s now.” Paris said, pushing Kayla out of her way and running towards the door.

Kayla watched her go, and then said to herself: “You are going to get what you deserve, Paris.”

She then ran her hand through her hair and checked her make up, before turning towards the door. As she left the washroom, Jacob came sweeping up to her.

“What have you been telling everyone about me being gay?”

”Oh that. I just thought that all the girls might want to know what you really are.” Kayla said, smiling to herself.

“You cow Kayla.” Jacob said loudly, causing some people to look towards him and Kayla.

“Are you finished Mr Samson?” Macy Rodgers asked, as she looked at her boss.

“Yes. Can you type that up and send it to Alistair?” Victor asked, lying back in his executive leather chair.

“Sure Mr Samson.” Macy said, smiling.

Both jumped as the phone started to ring.

“I’ll get it.” Victor said, as Macy left the room.

“Hello. Victor Samson.”

“Hello Victor.” Came the familiar voice, the voice of his blackmailer, or at least the sound of the equipment they used to hide their real voice.

“I thought I had got rid of you, the last time.”

“You did, but now I’m back for more. And I know some of your best secrets, so you better listen up or I’ll spill all of them.”

Next Time:
