Hi guyz,
Sorry I haven't been able to update lately. It's already August!! In a few weeks we're all gonna be leaving for college...how sad! But who knew my summer would be quite eventful? One bad thing after another...I'll tell you more about that later. I'm at my lunch break right now so I'll try to get everything I can before it's over. I have 2 more weeks of work left. YAY!!! I've decided that I'm gonna work till the 13th so that would give me 2 weeks to chill before going to school. Ugh...don't want school to start yet. It's way too soon! I feel like summer just started.
This past week was quite nice. Monday night was when Wynn, Aye and I went into Maryland to go and help out a family friend with some cooking. She was having an offering to the monks and then a party afterwards with regular people. It's a traditional Burmese party. So the night before, people gather together and cook for the next day. We went to help out frying parathas which is Indian flatbread kinda thing. We fried about 200 of them and it took us 2 hours. It got really really hot! Haha. But it was fun cuz we were telling jokes and all that. We didn't want to go back out there again the next day so we talked and ate some food before heading home. We didn't get home till after midnight and I was just really tired. Wednesday was when I met up with Malcolm and hung out. We were kinda in shock that it has already been a month since we last saw each other. We didn't realize how quickly time has passed. And of course we told each other about how nervous we are of going to college. It was great to talk about some things of the past as well. He's such an awesome friend. It'd be hard not to have him around GW. :( But I've decided to spend my 3rd Spring Break at UVA! LOL. I know...but can't help it. It's fun to stay there and I think it'll be super cool to see my friends as well. GW spring break is the week after UVA's so that should work out fine. I'm a bit excited about that already! Haha.
We went out to eat with David's family again on Friday. David's leaving tomorrow and Wynn's leaving on the 9th so we just wanted to have a farewell dinner before they left. We went to Myanmar Restaurant near our house. Of course, the food was awesome, it's Burmese! I ate soooo much and I didn't even realize it. I think that's the difference between the foods. Burmese food isn't too oily so you can easily eat more. I ate about 4 plates! Yeah, my appetite has grown a lot bigger since school. My summer has been nice. I've just been eating at all sorts of hours. It's great! His parents really loved it too. I think they'll come back. Afterwards, David came home with us and played Burmese poker. It was fun and he's getting the hang of it too. He's been like part of the family for a while. He's always at our house from when we wake up till when we go to bed. It's gonna be weird with him leaving. *sniff sniff* So because of that, he wanted to have a gathering of friends this past Saturday. We went to Great Falls to have a bbq party. It was us 4 sisters, David's cousin, and 5 of his friends. Of course, the guys don't want to do anything so us 3 sisters ended up doing most of the work. His cousin, Catherine, helped us out a little too. So we had skewers, burgers, hot dogs, corn...all sorts of things. It was fun. We did most of the prepping at David's house so we didn't get there till around 1:30. It was a really hot day too. We were sweating the whole day. Around 5pm, all the guys wanted to go home when we mentioned hiking. Such lazy bunch of guys! Aye and I wanted to continue down the trail that we have gone on before. It isn't even much. It's just about 30 minutes for one-way. But they all left so it was just us 4. Wynn and David wanted to rest a while before they go on the trail so Aye and I started off. We went way past the place where we've been to before. There wasn't anything else after that point so we took some pix before we headed back to that rocky point. David and Wynn stopped at the Mather Gorge so they were about 5 minutes away from where we wanted to go. So we went down near to the water, climbed some rocks and we were chilling near the water. We took off our shoes and we had our feet in the water and we were just talking. There weren't anybody around except for this couple who was rock climbing around the corner. But it was still quite bright. We were there for about 15 minutes or so when we heard this pop sound. We turned around and at that very instant, the back of my right arm started to sting. I looked at it and there was this round spot where it was bruised and it was turning green and dark purple. Blood was coming out a bit. Instantly, I thought of a BB gun. We looked up at the rock cliffs and didn't see anybody. And then Aye thought somebody threw something down without realizing that we were down there. We didn't hear anything. We had seen 2 guys about 20 feet away from us on the rocks that were a little higher up within 5 minutes ago. And I wasn't too sure if it was them. We quickly put on our shoes, got our stuff and went to where Wynn and David were. I washed that area off with some bottled water but blood was still coming out. We quickly went to the Park Ranger's office and told them what happened. The older ranger took me to the First Aid Station and cleaned me up. He was really nice about it. They both thought the same thing as we did. It was a BB gun. The bloody bruise was about the size of a pellet from a BB gun and the impact was pretty bad. There was a 3-inch diameter bruise around that red spot and it was green and purple. They asked me to report to the Park Police. The younger ranger called them but there was no answer so they said they'd report it to them. They were really concerned about it which I thought was very nice of them. That's why I like this area. In a big city like New York, they wouldn't even care if you were shot by a real gun. But in this area, they take real care of you. I was pampered a bit. Haha. The sting wasn't too bad but it's been 2 days now and I still have a big bruise. So yeah, my summer's been pretty cool. I've been robbed and I've been shot! How awesome, huh?? LOL. My life is pretty dramatic!
We watched this movie called "The Sleeping Dictionary" when we got back and I gotta say that it's AMAZING! It's Hugh Dancy and Jessica Alba. He's the new young British colonial officer and she's a Malaysian native and it's the love story between them. It's soooo good and I'm in love with Hugh Dancy now!!! I've seen him in another movie but I don't know which one. But I remembered that name so that's why I got that dvd. He's gorgeous and extremely sweet and charming. *drooling* Haha...he's in "King Arthur" so I HAVE to watch it now. I was going ga-ga-goo-goo over him. I've watched it 2 and a half times already! Sigh...:D
Yesterday was pretty cool. Ali came back from the beach so I went over to her house and talked until we were starving. We went into Vienna not knowing where we wanted to go. Finally, we decided on this Japanese restaurant called Sweet Ginger. It wasn't opened yet cuz it was only around 4:50 when we got there and it would only open at 5 on Sundays. So we walked around for a while until it opened. I must say that the food was really good. We ordered this dish called Three Friends... It's tuna, salmon, asparaghus and another kind of fish all rolled up and fried in tempura. And then it has this sauce on it and it was just delicious. We also ordered Pork Katsu which was just pork in tempura with Katsu sauce which was quite similar to bbq sauce. It came with this Japanese soup and salad which was different from anything I've tried. I ordered a lemonade and it was really thick and strong. My face was all distorted when I drank it. Ali was just having a good time with that! It has this strong smell to it too. So I had to order water with it. It was funny cuz our waiter asked us if we wanted wine. For dessert, we were gonna go to Baskin Robbins next door until our waiter said that they had fried ice-cream!! I've seen it on Food Network and I've been wanting to try it so we had to get it. Since they didn't have vanilla, we got mango sorbet. It was amazing. Completely delicious and completely full. Afterwards, we went to Micheal's to look at some things for a party we were having this Saturday. We were quite suprised with the things they have. It was like the things we see on TLC with home renovations and stuff - antiquing paint and magnetic paint and all that.
I got to talk to Ify and Sylvie last night too which was quite nice. I haven't talked to Sylvie for about a month now. And she's leaving on the 12th too. So I'm definitely looking forward to seeing her this week. And Ify told me she was leaving on Thursday and won't be back till the 23rd! Everybody's leaving!! I have to try and chill with as many people as I can before everybody's gone. Ali and I were talking about reunions yesterday and I can't wait for them. I think it'd be awesome to see everybody after 10 years. Even now, seeing people from school is kinda fun. Haha...we're growing old. LOL. Anyway, tootles till later. Hope to see or talk to you soon!
