The Plan
Why Japan?
Ross has always marvelled Japan for its unusual, quirky culture and soon introduced it to Eilidh. Japan is a fascinating place, where east meets west and nature meets urban. There are all kinds of things to look at, eat, and experience. We will be able to get a small taste of an incredible country.
When we get there
We will arrive in Osaka, straight off the ferry from Shanghai. We will then make our way to Kyoto by some means, Ross preferring the speed of the shinkansen - bullet train - and we will stay in Kyoto for 4 nights, exploring the city itself and the beautiful surrounding area. We will not be short of things to do! On the 3rd day in Kyoto we will hopefully get the night bus all the way to Tokyo, a ten hour journey. Although we may miss out on some of the spectacular scenery it is the most cost effective way of getting to Tokyo, offering us an overnight sleep. In Tokyo, we will explore for 3 nights. We are staying here for less time as Tokyo is relatively expensive compared to the rest of Japan, so with our tight budget we believe this will give us a little teaser of Tokyo. Then, finally, it's time to head to the airport for home.
Hopes and fears
Without our newly made friends in China we may feel a little bit lost and confused, especially with another new language to master - despite the fact we will only be there for a week. We really hope that a week is enough time to get a sense of Japan, as one day we hope to return. We hope that everything will be organised and booked before we go, and that bus, train, ferry and flight times all fit into our schedule!
