About this Website and the Development Process

This website was designed to inform potential customers of the types services that Peak Pest Control and Termite Services offers, and give some information regarding the types of infestions that can occur in either a residential or commercial business environment. In order to meet these objectives, research was done by reviewing existing pest control websites, and through various encyclopedia's to ensure that the correct information was presented. Thought was put into how to make the website as aesthetically pleasing as possible, that each webpage loaded in a reasonable amount of time, and that navigation of the pages occurred without errors on multiple platforms.

The design choices for this website were intended to be primarily informational and neatly presented to avoid confusion. Originally, I had placed a background on each page that contained crawling black ants, but that quickly proved to have it's own set of problems. First, it was too busy and took away from the content and second, it was very tiring on the eyes to look at. I decided to change the background to a plain light blue color since that is the color of the t-shirts that employees at Peak Pest Control are required to wear.

There are many opportunities for growth with this site. I had originally downloaded a free javascript that included bugs walking across the pages and intended to have it display on the Pests page, but decided against it because I could not get it to work consistantly. In the future, I would like to attach the links to graphics and remove some of the "dead space" with external links to other sites that can help the user get more information. I would also like to attach a database to the form to collect and store the user data for future marketing campaigns.
