Elsheikh Zayed Canal

President Mubarak has declared about setting up the national project for developing the south valley and according to the fast areas which the governorate of The New Valley has it's considered the strategic domain and the main axes for that giant (huge) national project .

 

*The aims of the project
1- getting out from the ancient narrow valley to the deserts' construction especially the western desert which represents 67% of the republic area . and within the Natiou's plan for expanding the constructive area from 5% to 25% of Egypt's area with all to result from . social , economical and demography effects .
2- A comprehensive development and a noticeable leap in all the mining , industrial , and agricultural fields which are found in desert a lot .
3- Reclaiming and planting 540000 feddans in the south valley region will increase our abilities for achieving the self sufficiency of food and increasing the national income.

*The performing situation
1- 75% of the deeds of Elsheikh Zayed Canal were carried out .
2- 75% of the deeds of the main life station were carried out .
3- Establishing a housing city for workers and growing about 7000 feddans on the water of underground wells .

*The deeds which are performing in the project
1- the main lift station that cost about 200000000 pounds .
2- the main canal and it's branches that cost about 500000000 pounds and which includes in addition to (beside) dug and main roads pavement that lies on the banks of the main canal and one of the main branches banks and setting up bridges for what's needed for work according to the canal and the lands levels which will serve it .
3- in addition to the National Structure which includes the lands service by the electric current . hence electric feeding projects have been carried out .
