TIPS FOR LAW SCHOOL

There are plenty of things to consider when applying to law school.  Here are some of the initial questions you should ask yourself:

  1. Am I ready to attend an additional three years of school with intense course work?
  1. Have I been exposed to the legal profession enough to make an educated decision as to whether law school is for me or not?
  1. Am I ready to take on the financial burden of law school?

If you have answered "Yes" to all of the above, then CONGRATULATIONS, you are as crazy as I am!

The next step is preparing for the LSAT! It is as horrible as it sounds but there are plenty of ways to prepare for it.  LSAT practice workbooks can be found at any bookstore.  I recommend the Princeton LSAT Review course. Although a little pricy, it is well worth the money.  The LSAT is given 4 times a year.  The recommended times to take it is in October or June.

Remember to register with Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) before you take the LSAT. This service obtains your recommendation letters, transcript, and LSAT score. Once you have mailed your applications, each law school will request your file from LSDAS. Most deadlines for applications are usually set for January to be admitted in the Fall. It is important to start the application process far in advance.

After taking the LSAT, you may want to visit some of  the law schools you are interested in.  (On some applications, you may be asked if you ever visited their school.)
