Epsilon Gamma was colonized at the University of Northern Colorado on February 15, 1999, after the campus Panhellenic voted to expand the number of sororites on campus to five. After being invited by the University to colonize a team from AOIIs international headquarters arrived at UNC and interviewed membership candidates.
The Colonization Ceremony was held at the Water Valley Golf and County Club in Windsor, Colorado. 200+ people were in attendance, including members of the new Epsilon Gamma chapter, AOIIs Chi Delta Chapter, Local Alumnae, UNC officials, IFC and Panhellenic representatives, and members of the local Greek community.
That year Epsilon Gamma participated in its first Greek Week, taking 2nd overall; Sigma Chi Derby days; held its first sisterhood retreat at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado; held the first formal at the Mad Russian in Miliken, Colorado; and participated intramural volleyball and in various community service and philanthropies including the Alpha Kappa Lambda Annual Easter Egg Hunt, and Windsor High School After Prom.
The founding members of Epsilon Gamma were initiated on April 29, 2000, assisted by Phi Sigma Chapter and conducted by Vice President of Operations Sally Wagaman. Following the ceremony, 200 parents and friends gathered at the Eaton County Club for a banquet in honor of the chapter and the "Alpha" Class of Epsilon Gamma.
In September 2000, Epsilon Gamma extended 24 bids to new members and in October WON the 2000 UNC Homecoming race.
