Tamil Nadu bans CPI (Maoist)
Chennai, July 13 (PTI): The Tamil Nadu Government today banned Communist Party of
India (Maoist) for indulging in unlawful activities, an official release said here.
The party was formed in September 2004 with the merger of Communist Party of
India (Marxist-Leninist), popularly known as People's War and Maoist Communist Centre of India.
"The party was banned as it was indulging in 1) 'unlawful activities, 2) maintaining links with other banned extremist groups, 3) circulating handbills, 4) pasting handwritten posters containing seditious slogans,5) calling upon the people to pursue the path of violence and had 6) involved itself in violence and in criminal cases and 7) causing terror among the people," the release said.
The party, through literature, wall writing, posters and phamphlets had been inciting and encouraging its
members to use criminal force and violence against government machinery, it said.)
