Edward K. Coon
Sales and Marketing Professional
1. Tell me a little about yourself.
Born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Graduated from a local University where I played baseball. I coached baseball and football for a local middle school. I am married with two children. Professionally, I have 15 years of sales experience and hold several sales recognition awards. Have extensive local business connections. My work ethic and leadership abilities are exceptional. I have managed up to 200 people.

2. Why are you looking for a new position?
My current employer doesn't share my drive to be a dominating force in the marketplace. They are content being third in the market and aren't willing to make the effort to advance.

3. In what ways do you think you can make a contribution?

I will contribute by exhibiting superior sales and leadership skills that my peers will emulate.
   A) In sales I am not afraid to prospect, using all resources to surpass sales goals and objectives. My organization skills allow me to not only excel in sales but to provide superior customer service. I am able to think outside the box in situations where a prospect may need specialized service.
   B) As a leadership I have a Can Do attitude. I lead through example so peers and subordinates will elevate themselves to a higher level.

4. What would your last boss say about you?
I am focused and driven.

5. What would you say are your greatest strength/weakness?
Strengths Organization, passion to succeed, think quickly and decisively.
Weakness Perfectionist, often have a hard time delegating to others.

6. What are your long-range career objectives? What have you done to move towards that goal?
To have a rewarding career with a stable company with continued growth and responsibility in my positions. Each of my positions in the past has had increasing responsibility. I had a goal to own my company, and successfully achieved it.

7. What have you learned from your mistakes?
How to work smarter not harder, know your enemy (competition) and know whom you work with.

8. Have you ever been fired or forced to resign?
Never.

9. Do you consider yourself a competitive person? Give me an example either way.
I am an extremely competitive person. I have always been on top of the Leader Board in sales and will continue to stay there. For example, in my last corporate position we merged with another company from the same industry. When we brought together the sales force and started going over the numbers I found there was only one individual from the merging company who sold more than I did. Within 3 months I was again on top and remained there until I left.

10. What is your ideal work environment?
Fast paced, competitive, and professional. I work best when I am given guidelines, both in pricing and geographically, so I know exactly what I can and cannot do. My ideal sales manager (if not myself) is one with an open door who stands behind the decisions his staff makes and works through the incorrect decisions individually. I prefer a manager who makes the environment fun yet professional and awards the top producers monetarily and with company recognition.

11. Do you prefer to work alone or in teams? Why?
I have worked successfully in both areas and do not have a preference.

12. Give me an example of when you had to show good leadership.
I had discovered a new, untapped revenue stream and was given the roll of overseeing its development. I had one support person and one salesperson along with myself. We ran into some rough spots when operations, sales, management and facilities werent on the same page. I called a meeting with the heads of all departments and explained the goal of this new position and how I envisioned us reaching these goals with the help of all departments. I mediated the brain storming session with all parties contributing to the solution. Some modifications were made to ensure a win-win situation and the new departments revenue shot up in excess of $1.75M within the first year.

13. Are you good at delegating tasks?
If the situation warrants delegation, I have no problem delegating. As part of the delegation process I will want periodic progress reports or check-ins to ensure everything is getting done to the expected quality level and time frame.

14. How do you handle stressful situations?
I have very good deductive reasoning skills. Even when I was in the food and beverage industry the other employees would comment on how calm I remain even in the heat of battle.

15. What sales related courses or coursework have you completed?
Professional Sales Skills
Professional Sales Negotiation
Guerrilla Selling
The Psychology of Sales Success
Advanced Selling Techniques
Off-The-Wall Marketing
The Complete Negotiator
The Art of War
Anthony Robbins Get The Edge

16. What computer skills do you posses?
I have advanced knowledge of Windows XP, including but not limited to:
Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Internet Explorer.
I have even better working knowledge of MAC, including but not limited to:
Word, Excel, Power Point, Entourage, Safari, Firefox, Mozilla, Mail, iCal, Address Book, Adium (Instant Message) and all the publishing tools.
Third Party CRM software including ACT!
I publish flyers and brochures for use in sales and marketing.

17. Why should I hire you?
You should hire me because I am dedicated, talented and will give you no less than 110% day in and day out. My sales and management skills are exceptional and my ability to adapt to any situation would make me an asset to any organization.
