Education Opportunity Program is a program aims to provide children of poor families the opportunities for education in school. Specifically, this program is formed to help children from villages in northern Thailand. Without financial assistance, it is likely that these children will continue to live in poverty, work in the farms or perform some other works in the village to earn minimum income to support the family. They may attend village schools for some years, but they will not be able to enjoy better facilities and education provided by schools in the cities.
As I have discovered, some of these children have great aspiration to do something for their people. They need to be given a chance. Education is one of the keys to combat poverty. With good education, these children will grow up with enriching knowledge and equipped with skill for employment. Hopefully, they will get better job in future. It is also hopeful that with love and care from people, they are less likely to get involved with anti-social problem, like drug abuse.
I also strongly believe that we are blessed by God to bless others. It is only after seeing these children and their living condition that we realise how fortunate and blessed we are. For only S$61 a month, a child is able go to school, stay in the school dormitory, and his living taken care of. S$61 a month is such a small amount for most average income people who live big cities. It really cost us so little to touch the live of someone.
I hope many people will reach out to help these unfortunate children. If you are interested in adopting a child to be their sponsor or you want more information, please write to me at [email protected]
I personally have adopted a girl to sponsor her study in Chiangmai Adventist Academy. She is Mee Tei's younger sister. You may click the link below to read about her. My Adopted Girl

These 4 children, of the same village, had benefitted from sponsors of the program. All of them started school together and are all placed in the same class despite the obvious age difference.

This is Mee Tei, a 13 years old Ahka girl. Her father had passed away and mother abandoned the children to be taken care of by her grandmother. She is in Grade 5 now. Thanks to sponsor to EOP. Pastor Phamor said she is a very smart girl. When I first saw her, I saw her as a girl who knew how to take initiative to do things and a good sister knowing how to care for her siblings.
This is the man behind the program, Pastor Phamor. He has laboured untiringly not just to share the gospel with villages in northern Thailand, but also actively seeking sponsors to help the poor villages. Sitting beside him is Eh La. She is one of the village girls who has benefitted from the Education Opportunity Program. She has completed high school and plans to study in a teacher's college. This picture was taken when I visited Eh La's home.
