Using Blogs as an Online Journal

Weblogs, aka, Blogs, have become a mainstream source of information and ideas. Blogs can have many formats, but usually contain links, biography of the author, and a threaded discussion area.

For the purpose of this assignment, create a blog using the popular Blogger tools. This website offers easy to follow step-by-step instructions for getting started. Begin by adding introductory contact information and a little bit about yourself. Remember to keep your true identity hidden. In class we will determine blog circles, the people that you will share ideas and responses to articles.

During the semester, you will locate three online resources that discuss implications of technology use in education. This topic is very broad and can include information for teachers, examples of how teachers use technology to enhance instruction, projects that students have created, etc. Possible topics include: visual literacy, information literacy, accessibility for all students, assessment. In addition to these three articles, you will post your ideas about using blogs in the classroom. Discuss how you would like to use blogs with students in your class, or a schoolwide idea, or maybe something broader than that. If you find your idea from a web source, make sure to reference it.
