New Poll Reveals Senate Ignorance
From The News Agency, The People That Bring You The News
The results of a new poll released today showed a shocking 56% of United States Senators do not know which political party holds the majority of seats in the National Legislature.
"If anyone should know" a laughing, but clearly embarrassed, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist was quoted as saying "one would think it would be me." Several Senators said they used to know but had forgotten. ‘The answer’s right on the tip of my tongue’ was a common comment.
In a secondary finding 43% said it doesn’t matter anyway. "Fairness must come first. Majority rule is not now, nor was it ever, what our great democracy was founded on." Said Harry Reid, Minority Leader. Reid insisted he knew who was in the majority but refused to acknowledge it.
Public reaction has been largely negative. Many feel politicians should better understand their jobs. "I thought the reason we have a government was so the rest of us don’t have to think about stuff like this." Said Bart, a New Jersey waiter. "Whoever these congress or senate people are should get their act together." Weighed in Tiffany, a 25 year old from California.
Pollsters say that may not happen soon though. "Ignorance among politicians has been trending upward for quite some time." said one longtime professional. "It’ll get worse before it gets better." predicted another.
