| STANDING RIGGING The Standing Rigging on this boat consists of a fore stay and 2 side stays. They are made up from 1/8 7 X 19 stainless steel wire rope using swaged sleeves. It is best to fasten the stays to the Masthead with either shackles or quick-links. You will need 3 - 3/8 turnbuckles to provide tension to the stays. Do not use the cheap aluminum turnbuckles; they are not strong enough for this rig. Do not over tighten the turnbuckles on this rig; it is not necessary. Fore Stay is fastened to the 3/8 eyebolt at the masthead and to a 5/16 eyebolt on the Jib Boom. The 5/16 eyebolt is located 5 from the end of the Jib Boom. RUNNING RIGGING The halyards and jib sheet are made from braided line. The main sheet is made from 3/8 braided line. I suggest fastening a Halyard Shackle with a Captive pin to each halyard and sheet with an Eye splice. This makes it easy to rig the boat for sailing and to take it down when you are through for the day. Jib Sail is fastened to the Jib Boom with a quick-link and eye strap 1 behind the 5/16 eyebolt; this keeps the sail off the turnbuckle. A Clubfoot is attached to the Jib Boom 6 behind the 5/16 eyebolt with an eye hook and eye strap. The Jib Sheet is fastened to the Clubfoot with a eyebolt 1 from the end. The Clubfoot should come with in 2 of the mast. A stand up swivel pulley is located on the centerline of the boat directly under the eyebolt of the Clubfoot. The Jib Sheet is led from the Clubfoot to the pulley to a Bulls-eye to a Jam-cleat on the edge of the deck. I located the Bulls-eye 2 to the right of the mast and lined up the Jam-cleat. To fasten the Jib sail to the Clubfoot first fasten the sail to the Fore-stay with hanks then lay the Clubfoot along the center line and tie the Clew to an eye strap located 1 from the eye bolt, keeping the Clubfoot on the deck and the line tight. The Jib halyard is run from the head of the sail to the Head-sail pulley to a cleat on the lower right side of the Mast, this keeps all the Jib rigging on the right hand side of the mast. Main Sail is fastened to the Main Boom at the Gooseneck and is either tied or laced at the grommets leaving about 1 gap between the sail and the boom. The last grommet at the clew is where you fasten the Out Haul line. The Out Haul is made from 1/8 line and runs from the clew to a small pulley at the end of the boom. It then doubles back down the boom about 12 to a small cleat on the side of the boom. The sail is then fastened to the mast with either mast hoops or lacing leaving about 1 gap between sail and mast. The grommet at the throat is fastened to the Gaff jaws with an eye strap and quick-link. It will then be tied or laced to the Gaff boom leaving about 1 gap. The last grommet is rigged with an Out Haul the same way as on the main boom. The Gaff boom is held to the mast loosely with parallel beads. The Throat halyard fastens to an eyebolt on the top of the gaff jaws about 1 from the mast. It then runs to the throat halyard block and back down to a cleat on the left side of the mast. The Peak halyard fastens to an eyebolt 4 from the end of the boom then runs to the peak block on the mast, a double block. It then goes to a single block half way down the gaff boom and back to the double peak block, then to a bulls eye and jam cleat on the left side of the deck. This keeps the main mail rigging on the left side of the mast The main sheet runs from an eyebolt 4 from the end of the main boom to a single pulley on a bridle fastened to the rear deck. It then goes to a single pulley 8 from the end of the main boom to another single pulley located half way down the main boom. Rigging information may be up dated later as necessary |
