I have finally got the centerboard trunk in place and the hatch frame is being glued up. The centerboard trunk is offset to the right side of the keel so the pivot bolt can go through the keel. This keeps potential water leaks out of the cabin.
November 7, 2003 The plywood top is half on, the hatch track still needs a little work and the sliding hatch will be my next big headache.
The inside of the centerboard trunk is fiberglassed with 3 coats of 20% graphite filled epoxy. Installing the trunk in the boat at this time was a major task. It is offset so it fastens to the side of the keel. This way the pivot bolt goes through the keel and is not inside the hull to leak
This is the sliding hatch that I made from some Black Walnut that a friend gave to me.
