| The 38th Edmonton Scout Group was reformed in 1999 when the 148th Lancaster Park and 147th Greisbach Scout Groups decided to maximize resources and join forces.
The 148th Lancaster Park Scout Group was located on the air force base in Namao on the outskirts of Edmonton. The 147th Greisbach Scout Group was located on the north side of the city on the army base. In 1998 the military started to move all it's resources to the Namao site and so we followed suit. Our new name 38th Edmonton Garrison Scout Group came about after viewing old photo and articles in our storeroom where we discovered the first charter, in the Edmonton area, the military received from Scouts Canada (then Boy Scouts of Canada) was made out to the 38th Edmonton Scout Group. We added the Garrison to our group name as that was the new name of the base. Our necker has two colors; blue and tan. The blue represents the airforce while the tan represents the army part of our heritage. |
