The Beeftinks
"For whenever you get sick of hearing stuff on the radio that all sounds the same, and want anything new and fresh, no matter what the risk is..."
The Beeftinks is another musical project I have in the works, an Amos/Montgomery production. I forget what our mission statement is... something to do with crapulence I think. And beer. We have a few songs available to download - listener discretion is advised.
From the forth-coming Grammy nominee album Kick with both feet at once:
Wife --- The Beeftinks first single. It is our most traditional song, indeed the only song thus far to adhere to the standard format of a rock song. It deals with depression in solitude, and the fear of dying alone. The anguish is stressed through the use of sprechstimme in the vocals (a technique pioneered by Arnold Schoenberg, one of The Beeftinks many influences), and a more traditional distorted rock guitar echoing Neil Young. The emotional power is brought out through use of a celestial organ solo.
Arabian Sunrise --- in which we break all the rules, glue some back together with clag paste, eat some clag paste, then step on the rules with a steel-capped boot. We strive to break free of the constricting mould that is the modern rock song, and provide a much freer feel to the sound world. Naturally, we look to the East for such influences. Of course, we cannot avoid rocking out completely... a driving guitar powers through as vocals inspired by Robert Plant soar majestically overhead. See if you can hear the sun rise in the end! (All effects processing on this mix was done with the Windows sound recorder. A mighty piece of audio editing software, that one. Actually, I had a lot of fun in my childhood years doing the chipmunk voice with that thing. Ah, memories. Lousy traumatic childhood...)
Lounge Lizard --- stepping into the world of funk. Not so much stepping into, but ramming a sledgehammer through the doggy-door of the realm of funk. Once again we experiment with timeless rhythms, heard in the organ solo, and two different vocal lines that intertwine, but never quite match. This song contains one of our most chunkiest, salubrious, and groin-grabbingly powerful guitar riffs to date. Watch out for your speakers!
Has anyone seen "Troll 2"? Man, that movie sucks! "Start singing, Joshua!"..."Oh no, they're eating her... then they're gonna eat me!"..."Oh no, nilbog spelt backwards is goblin!"..ughhhhhhh.
