Enchanter's Promise

Chapter Seven

A few weeks had passed since he had his chance encounter with the elfin woman by the stream. What disturbed him was how no one seemed to know of the wizard he was hunting for. But as much as that plagued his thoughts - he was more troubled by the face he saw in the city.

"This game of hide and seek is getting me no where. maybe i'm going about this the wrong way. Nobody seems to know of this wizard - that is trying to kill me. It is almost as if he doesn't exist - but I know that he does." Enchanter rationalized.

"Wait a minute - maybe - maybe he doesn't exist." he commented as he looked around. In his travels and studies he had learned of a parallel plane of existance known as the Shadow Plane. There it was rumored that wizards beasts and other such terrors dwelled.

"Perhaps what I face is a shadow - or a troll that can become one." he stated. It was then that the ground beneath him began to turn jet-black. he then fell into the darkness. The ground returned to normal.

Seconds later - Enchanter awoke to find himself in a desolate place - a place that looked vaguely familiar.

"I know this place." he muttered as he slowly got up.

"Weclome home - Enchanter..." a low voice growled. Enchanter slowly looked over his shoulder and saw Dorragarr - the Lord of the Pit - towering before him.

"Hmm. Dorraggar. Funny - you looked bigger last time I saw you." Enchanter commented.

"I still am. Your life beliongs to me. Today - I will collect." the demon hissed.

"When we last met - I was a child. I am not a timid child now. You have no power over me. I on the other hand - do have power over you!" Enchanter retorted. In a blur of motion - blue strands of power shot out from the wizards hands and soared at the giant demon.

"Fool! You cannot control me!" the demon hissed. Enchanter watched as a whip made of flames appeared in the large demon's hands. The whip snapped at the blue strands and prevented them from reaching their intended target.

"That has yet to be seen." Enchanter commented. With a wave of his hand - the fire whip vanished. Before the demon lord could even think of reacting - the blue strands of power ensnared around his neck hands and feet. Enchanter could feel the creature's emense power as he tried to resist the power of binding spell.

"It is over!" Enchanter ordered. The demon screamed out - but them went silent. Enchanter could feel the struggling cease. The beast was now his!

"I thin it is time we had a little talk you and I." Enchanter began.

"I have nothing to say to you." he retorted.

"Really? I beg to differ. You are not a shadow - how is it that you are here?" he asked.

"Ask what you will - I will not answer!" the demon screamed.

"So stubborn. Hold still for a moment." Enchanter requested. Blue energy began to sparkle around the large demon. Dorraggar looked at the energy and then slowly looked down at Enchanter.

"What have you done?" he asked seriously.

"Well, since you aren't being helpful. I don't have much need for you - do I?" he asked.

"No I suppose not." the demon rationalized.

"So - I will activate the vanishing spell I have placed on you - every day for the rest of your unnatural life. I promise you that you will spend the rest of your days imprisoned in a dimension of nothingness that would make this place look lively." Enchanter stated coldly.

"You're bluffing!" the demon hissed.

"Am I?" he retorted. with a wave of his hand - the demon faded away. Enchanter hummed to the beat of a song he liked. He calmly looked at the back of his hand and waited. Seconds later - the demon began to slowly return. Enchanter looked up at the demon and smiled.

"Did you enjoy your stay? It was just temporary for now - but I do have the power there to keep you locked there for thousands of years at a time - depending on the mood I'm in of course. Do you still want to believe i am bluffing?" Enchanter asked seriously.

"That - won't be necessary." the demon muttered.

"Good. I will remove the control spell I have on you. It isn't needed anymore. I want you to tell me the answer to a question - that you know Ii will ask. And I will know if you are lying." Enchanter stated coldly. The demon twitched as the spell that bound him to Enchanter faded.

"Wart Fang. He is the wizard you seek. And he is a shadow that learned how to cross over the planes. I know nothing more than that." the demon stated calmly. Enchanter studied the demon and smiled.

"Good to know. You may leave now Dorraggar. And if you are wise - you will make sure that our paths never ever cross again." Enchanter warned. The demon grunted and vanished into a cloud of black smoke. Enchanter sighed and looked around the wasteland that surrounded him.

Wart Fang huh? Ready or not - here I come. he thought as he walked towards some jagged mountains.
