Enchanter's Promise

Chapter Eight

Within his castle, Wart Fang watched as Enchanter made his way through the desolate wastelands.

"You crafty - but not crafty enough." he said as he waved his hand over the mirror. The image vanished.

"Master not want this - master want that. Why she make this so difficult?" he complained as he scurried from his thrown over to where his book shelf was.

"If she want him dead - let me kill him dead - but no! That too easy." he mumbled. Unknown to him a red mist began to rise up from the floor behind him. it slowly began to take on the form of a human female. It was at that moment that he knew that he was being watched.

"Master?" he asked without turning.

"Who else would visit this stink hole?" the mist woman asked.

"I heard you complain troll - you believe you are a match for this wizard?" she asked.

"I kill stronger than him." he pointed out while he took a book off a high shelf and began to thumb through it.

"Have you? Fair enough. Deal with him as you wish. But fail - and you will wish - that you never met me." the mist woman warned. the troll looked over his shoulder and snorted at her.

"Too late." he muttered. The mist woman laughed and slowly began to dissipate.

"Master let me kill you after all. I think it time we meet." he muttered. he walked over and grabbed his staff. he waved his staff in a circle and vanished into a burst of red flames.

At that moment - in the wastelands - Enchanter stopped walking. He could sense that something was heading his way. Green and blue mana swirled around his hands as he waited for whatever was seeking him. It was then that the troll appeared a short distance away from him.

"Me saw what you do to Lord of Pit. You sneaky." he stated with a wicked smile.

"That's me. If that was supposed to be your best effort..." Enchanter began.

"No - not even close." the troll interrupted.

"Have you come here to surrender?" Enchanter asked.

"You funny. No. I come to kill you." he retorted bluntly. dozens of fireballs exploded outward from the troll's staff and flew at Enchanter. He moved the mand that had green mana swirling around it and quickly pointed at every fireball with his other hand. The troll watched as every firball fizzled out.

"I would like to know why you chose to start this with me." Enchanter asked.

"I need no reason. I fight you because you here. Arise!" he shouted. Enchanter watched as hundreds of undead monsters began to rise up from the wastelands around him.

"No." Enchanter replied. he held up his green hand - to reveal a glowing green seed. The undead creatures slowly began to return back into the ground.

"Lifeforce..." the troll muttered.

"This can go easy or hard." Enchanter warned.

"You no scare me Enchantment wizard! Burn!" he exclaimed as an inferno began to burn around them. Enchanter quickly levitated himself above the blaze - but was burned in the process. Wart Fang looked up at the wizard that had escaped his death once again.

"No escape! Die! Die! Die!" the troll sang. Enchanter watched as black bolts of power soared up at him. by the look of them he could recognize the terror spells.

"No." he replied. He channelled his power into the Lifeforce seed. one by one - all of the bolts fizzled.

"You is craftier than i thought. Go home." he retorted. Enchater attempted to counter the spell - but it wasn't working. He looked over and saw the wizard feeding power into a spell that was already in effect.

"Oh no you don't! We have unfinished business you and I." he stated seriously. He pointed at the spot where the troll wizard was focusing - the power and the spell vanished. The troll wizard slowly looked over at the wizard that was starting to prove to be more trouble than he was worth.

"I deal with you! You no want me! Me just puppet! Me..." he began. Just then the troll screamed out. White flames errupted from the ground beneath him. Enchanter backed away as the flames seemed to spread out. But seconds later - the flames vanished. The troll wizard - was gone.

Whoever did that was responsible for the mess at my castle. More riddles - great. That's just what i need. he thought as he looked around the wastelands of the Shadow Plane. It was then that he came to an unsettling grasp of the situation he was in.

"How am I going to get back home?" he asked himself.
