Oct 6th Race #9
What a good weekend of racing.... for me at least.  My brother Joe had engine problems that let him down. It was not till the end of the day he realized that his fuel line had developed a small leak which caused the engine to loose power.  You could hear it sputtering all over the track.  Luckily he didn't seize his engine from running too lean which may have  caused  major damage.  He just lost out on points.

On the same note, my bike performed flawlessly.  It  felt like it was running 110% even though its' rider (me)  was running 100+ degree fever.    I must've drank 2 gallons of water between races  and still felt dehydrated.

I don't even  rememer the actual racing on the track except for the video my dad shot.  I'm glad he came out to watch us.  It brought back memories of when my brother and I raced BMX bicycles.  It was my dads  first time out as a spectator and he had a great time.  My
BAYSR buddy Daren and his brother Dean came out too.  I think we hooked a couple of more racers for us!

Since my Dad was on the cam, I decided to race with my brother in the Superbike class and forgo TrophyDash.   It will be just like old times.  The track setup today was
perimeter with the heat laps scheduled for 7 and 8 for the main.  I was feeling  under the weather  and did not expect much today except to have fun.

Supersport
Heat 1: I started in 9th on the grid with 17 other racers.  My brother had pole position.  I got a great start and wedged myself in 4th position through turn 1.   I kept  4th positon and figured the two weekends of backroad street riding helped.  I don't think I was riding any faster today just more relaxed.   I heard there were a lot of fallen riders during the race so I figured the faster guys behind me crashed out.

Heat2:
I started in 5th on the grid and got another awesome start and was in 3rd position going into turn 1.  I kept that spot till the end of 7 laps.  I'm thinking what is it today with the faster guys?  I'm  sweating down to my boots with a fever and still  placing well.

Main: I'm totally spent now and will try to finish at least in the top 5.  I figured with 8 laps and the ambient tempertatures in the high 80s i'm going to just fizzle towards the end.  On the other hand, I trophied and finshed 3rd.  I started in 3rd place and had a great start and was 2nd in  turn 1.  I tried to relax my breathing eventhough my heart was already beating  faster than usual due to the fever.  I could feel the leathers squishing around me as moved around on the bike.   I held 2nd place for 6 laps.  Joel's son Andrew, got me down the front straights with two laps remaining.  I almost lost it on lap 7 trying to avoid a back marker on top of the corkscrew.  I miss shift and hit the bottom in the wrong gear.  I almost lost the back end and did not have power to drive out.  I must've scared the riders behind me so they did not try to pass while my bike got squirrley.  I finally got passed the backmarker by out breaking him in turn 1.  He helped me block my pursuers to finish in 3rd place.
Superbike
Heat 1: I didn't use my new Superbike because the front end need alignment and new tires.  It will be ready to go for the last race of the year.  I started 2nd position of 8  racers and had the holeshot in turn 1on the Supersport.  I could hear the faster modded YSRs behind me and kept my lead on the first lap.  I wanted to get a better drive through turn 3 so in turn 2 I gave it  more gas than I usually do and lost the back tire.  I did a complete 180 turn and saw #83 Pat  of Rattler's Rock Racing dumping it to avoid crashing into me.  Thanks again Pat for not naiiling me.  Anyway, I got the bike up and running and did another lap before pulling in.  I almost crashed in turn 4 because my hand brake was wrapped to the 5 o'clock position.  When I  atempted to trail brake in turn 4, the extra push I put on the bars to reach the lever unsettled the bike and almost  lost the front end.

Heat2:
I started in the back but was already spent  from the Supersport  Heat 2   race.  I tried real hard on the first lap and  decided to cruise for the remaing laps.  I wanted to save it for the Supersport Main.   I finished in last place

Main:    Even with the riding high I got from placng 3rd in Supersport, I chose not to race.  Instead I took my video cam and recorded Joe.  I figured with his bike sorted he would've been going for the trophy.   He pushed it so hard that he lost it on the last turn before the straight.  I got a great video of it that I will try to upload later on.

Check back for pics and video.
