I woke up packed and ready to go this morning. I didn't practice yesterday and wish I had because I felt off during Sunday's warm-up practice runs. I have not touched my bike since the last race and it ran sluggish. I signed on for Novice Supersport and Trophy Dash. Oh yeah, I am sporting a new tail section courtesy of my bro. Though I heard some YSR riders felt the GSXR tail was too confining, it felt right for me. I wish I made the change sooner. |

NOVICE SUPERSPORT We had 17 on the grid today. There were two Heats, which consisted of 6 laps each, and the Main being 8. I planned on changing the pipe back to the twin stinger Calamari from the Toomey Racing, but decided against it when I found we were running the Perimeter setup.
Like last time, I do not recall how or where I finished during the heat races because I was more focused on trying to stay on the track. My front tire kept sliding at the end of turn 1 and through turns 10 and 11. I tried different positions hoping to get enough weight to keep the front end down. On the front straights it felt slow too. It's either I am finally comfortable on the bike, or it needs a serious rebuild. What might help too is to drop some weight off the belly. Any who..... On the main event, I wanted to place well and get some points because I was rear-ended in race 4 and DNF'd. I started in 8th position behind my brother. We both had a great start and we sandwiched #71 for two laps. Unfortunately, he went dirt tracking on turn 12 and #71 had to avoid not hitting him. It slowed him down enough and I shot through to the front. I was in 4th Place for the next 4 laps, but eventually got passed on the straights on lap 6. I now just wanted to bring it home and not dump it so I cruised around and #19 (aqua #46) was on my tail. I was caught unaware at the line and lost 5th place by half a bike length. I was so disappointed I lost; it helped add fuel to the fire for Trophy Dash. |

NOVICE TROPHY DASH it was a cool day at PC considering it's the summer time. I don't know how some racers join more than two events. The two heat races were a blur after doing Super sport. The reason I remember what happened in this event is because my brother Joe (#48) shot the race with my camcorder.
I had a flying start in heat 1 from 5th position and was in 3rd position on the first lap. My tires were still gooey from the prior Super sport race and I lost the front end in turn 12. I got back on but was in last place. With the 5 laps remaining I caught two riders and finished 8th. In the second heat, I rode well and finished in 5th place. Then on the main event, I had another sweet start and ran in 5th the whole race. My shadow, #19 (formerly Alvins #46 bike) stuck on my rear and would catch me on the front straights. I kept my head down and wanted to payback the pass he did in Super sport. I beat him to the line this time with 3 bike lengths to spare.
Next race prep: I will try to get my essentially stock engine's cylinder ported and modify the squish band in the head which would help increase the compression. Hopefully this would help my bike down the straights and I know Alvin had all that done to his bike and the motor rebuilt a few times. I have yet to rebuild the bottom end since I purchased it last year. I rebuilt the top end once and put fresh rings this season. |

My shadow #19
This was pretty much how the weekend went -- with #19 and I fighting for the finish. I beat him in Trophy Dash and lost to him in Supersport. |
