May 26th Race #4
Brief Report:  Luckily I entered in two eventsNovice Supersport and Trophy Dash. I said luckily because I retired early in Supersport, the only event usually register for the weekend.   I retired early because I was rear-ended by another rider in the chicane which knocked my Toomey Racing slip-on pipe off. So I was forced to nurse it back to the pits early to get it fixed before my Trophy Dash main.  I got it running and finished in 3rd place
Novice Super Sport:  I dont remember how I did in the heats but I know I was started in 5th on the Main only to get rear-ended by Scott Hadaway.  I found out later he was rear ended too.  I was mad not that I was rear-ended but the fact I could have raced for another trophy finish.
Novice Trophy Dash:  I was gridded in 4th because of my DNF in Heat 1.  I DNFed because I crashed trying to chase #33 Martin who was in first.  I gassed it too soon in Turn 7 and lost the back end.  In Heat 2, I knew I had to do well because of my DNF in Heat 1.  To my surprise, I finished 1st [my personal best] after starting from the last row.    Martin who won the first heat crashed this time in Heat 2.  With the outcome of the two heats, I was gridded in 4th for the Main Event.  I had a terrible start and was stuck behind #170 Robert for the 7 laps in the 8-lap event.  He was racing well and I had a harder time passing him then I did in Heat 2.  I finally got him late braking into turn 12 with one lap remaining.   Coming out of turn 13, I set my sights on #177 Oliver who was in second place.  I put my head down the front straights and shot through turn 1 faster than I am accustomed to and was right behind him.  Unfortunately, I lost all the speed as the back end slid out in turn two and almost caused me to high side off the bike.  Luckily I saved it but lost too much ground to make up before the end of the race.

Equipment Check:  I used my Toomey Racing pipe and thought it was similar to the TCR Twin stinger.  It felt faster down the front straights than either the DG or the TCR pipe.  I noticed it gave up a little bit of mid-range power for top-end because I had to slip the clutch in some of the tighter low speed corners at PC.  I think the DG, Calamari and Toomey pipes are about even.  If I had to make a choice then the TCR is the pipe for me.  Mine is used but wonder how a new one would perform.  Hmmmm..
