Text Box: If you liked this newsletter, or if you think it could do with some improvement, please come and help out.
The editorial team (which at the moment consists of Eddy) needs expanding.
With more people writing articles, or making up games to while away your time, this newsletter could be improved greatly.
Text Box: If you are interested in getting involved, you don’t even have to talk to me, just e-mail articles, ideas, criticisms or praise to:

Text Box: Text Box: Over the last few years, Manchester University has not attended many BPSA events. Last year, a few students went to the sports weekend in Derby and were greeted with awe in the fact that we actually showed up for once.
The BPSA (British Pharmaceutical Students’ Association) is the student arm of the RPSGB (Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain) and runs many events throughout the year.
Text Box: There is the sports weekend, where the schools of Pharmacy get together and compete against each other, culminating in the man-o-man competition at the end of the weekend.
Also, there are area conferences and annual conferences.
This years area conference has already Text Box: passed, but the annual conference is next April.
Overall, the BPSA events are a great way of getting to know people from other schools of Pharmacy, and meeting some of our future employers too.
Look at www.BPSA.com for more information.

Text Box: This year was the first year that our faculty has joined the peer mentor scheme, and it was of mixed success.
The mentors met their mentees during fresher’s week, which all went well apart from a few minor mistakes where everyone was sent up and down stairs and then people got lost and couldn’t find where they were supposed to be.
Then, when everyone was scheduled to meet up again, it turned out that another mistake had been made, and it just didn’t happen again.
Text Box: By now, most people should have either met their mentor or have been contacted via e-mail by them.
Information about peer mentoring is available from your mentors, and if you don’t know who yours is then there is a peer mentor notice board in the foyer of the Coupland 3 building which has that information on it.
At the beginning of next semester, we shall begin looking for new mentors for the next academic year, which is voluntary. Also their will be new administrators. The administration post is held by Text Box: 2-3 people and they have to co-ordinate the activities for peer mentors. This admin post is paid and information on this shall be passed around in due course as soon as details are finalised.
Here is your chance to tell us what you think of the quality of peer mentoring from this year, log on to www.mupsnet.co.uk and check out the community board for a poll, which will be published in the next issue.
