"The Newsies" was adapted and directed by Kerri Leier. Musical direction by Melissa Vidito and choreography by Tracy Fritz Nasson.
The show features an energetic cast of junior high school, university students and members of the community.
Adapted from the Disney movie and featuring the memorable music of Alan Menken (Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast) as well as original tunes by Ms Vidito, Newsies is a dynamic tale which shows how the power of one person voice can change the world. The story is based on the actual New York Newsboys strike of 1899, centering around Jack Kelly. Jack- a streetwise likable newsie- and his friends take on the powerful world or the press when they try and stand up to Joseph Pultizer.
Filled with explosive dancing, powerful music and an inspiring message, The Newsies has something for everyone and is sure to delight and impress.
