Jean Steeves
My Grandmother, Jean Crowe (Formally Jean Steeves), was passionate about theatre. In her career teaching at Hants East Rural High School, she also directed and produced the huge musicals that the community became very well known for.
Casting from the community and elementary schools, Jean's work brought together people from all walks of life, and gave them a theatre experience that they remembered forever.
I was fortunate enough to see the last production of her career "Sound of Music". I wasn't very old, but I still remember watching and being completely captivated. It may be one of my first memories.
I am thrilled, and so touched, to have had Jean as my producer. I have been blessed to have such a supportive and creative role model, who has instilled a love of theatre and the dramatic in all her children and grandchildren. Sadly Jean passed away on July 1st, 2007. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was the one who taught us all to "Look to the Rainbow.
