LHA Donation to the Normandy Veterans Association
The �500 donation last year(2008) was made to the Normandy Veterans Association in order to assist the surviving veterans getting to Normandy this year - many for the last time, some for the first.
The fundraising organiser has said:
"Again, personally I thank you and your members for your donation in this matter I am sure Mr. Hodge[NVA National Secretary] will add his gratitude officially on behalf of the Normandy Veterans Association. Certainly I believe it is through the dedication, historic understanding and knowledge of your members which will assist in keeping the memories and importance of the events on leading up to and after the 6th June alive for generations to come."
The NVA has had to seek donations for this as the UK Government has, at present, declined to offer any financial support (unlike the Canadian and US Governments who have).
