We really enjoy camping. We mean sleeping in a tent, not that trailer thing some people call camping. |
We find camping very relaxing, calming and peaceful. Even if we only leave for a couple of days, it is worth it after a long and sometimes stressful work week. We listen to the rustling of the leaves, the crashing of the waves on the beach, the chirping of the birds. It is like we are in a totally different world, even though we might be only one hour away from home. |
When we camp, we do not spend much time cooking. We almost always prepare instant meals where all we have to do is open the package and add water or open the can and just warm it up. By doing this, we spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying our surroundings. |
Whenever we go on a road trip, we bring our camping equipment along. If the weather is clear, we camp. If it is rainy, we do the motel thing. By camping, we get to see a lot more of the countryside and we get to meet more people who are doing the same thing. |
The only thing we dislike about camping is mosquitos. They come out after the rain. They are always annoying and at times painful, but always itchy! They are the only thing that can spoil a camping trip. Well, mosquitos and black flies. Black flies are usually around in the late spring and early summer in northern areas. We come into contact with them much less often than we do with mosquitos. Other than those particularly annoying bugs, camping is a lot of fun. |
