Here is a list of every company which has manufactured automobiles in the United States. This list came from a source which I have misplaced but will find and will cite. The number of companies is impressive and the locations are, too. There is a very good chance that your town once had an automobile manufacturer if it is of any size at all.

�GM Leading the Way Again

GM is leading the way again in automotive technology. Take a guess how long GM has been working on making an electric car. How tough can it be. Sure, it took me a whole year and about five grand, but this is GM. This is the earliest reference I have found concerning GM's efforts - as feeble as they may be - to manufacture electric cars.
