The Story of the Apartment Jamb

as told by Jim D.

Well the Apartment Jamb started as the brainchild of 3 young sophomores in Ted Keener’s (yea thats right, good ole TK) 1st period, Jim Digiuseppe, Dave Reilly, and Taylor Souter. As the math group Tevis and the Rabbi, we started a fantasy band called Smelly Jim and the Banjo Five. We dreamed of grand things, some things have already made their way into being, some will become reality another day. We had many an album cover drawn out and wrote many originals, the highlights being “White Africa”, “The Beast”, “Blew Up the Amp”, and “In the Jungle”.

Vocal Jams were rampant, and though never recorded, they will always be remember for their randomness. The survivor challenge went down, and while Jim was supposed to play the National anthem, he failed to show up. But anyway sophomore year ended and there was much inactivity over the summer. Junior year began and yet another math class (3rd period Mason) triggered us to begin plans with our supergroup. Eb’s parents have an apartment over their garage, and it was the perfect place to practice/record!!! Jim, followed by the rest, made good friends with a certain Zach Needles. His musical ability, we found, was unmatched. I proposed the idea of this fantasy we three had and he was psyched to join on for the occasional jam. Dave and Eb’s old friend Brian Kirchner (also an eclectic musical genius) had heard some bass only demos Jim had made in soph year (Ed smith’s class) and was also asked to join. The band was complete, now a time to join together was settled and we gathered. Now the original name was centered on one name, Smelly JIM.... So since the bulk of talent was obviously not in Jim’s hands we changed the name. It wasn’t hard to come up with: we were in an APARTMENT and we were there to JAM so there ya go. then along came the highly debatable

B

I saw it in some Weezer demo’s and I decided to use it. And so we became the Apartment Jamb.

Several things have happened since those first 3 songs were recorded, (Zach’s plans to forge ahead in music have come to a complete pinnacle with BATTLESPOON, Jim and Zach formed Half-blooded Italians, and Tomorrow’s Pudding [Zach, Jim, Marc-cuz of Jim, and Nick of Battlespoon] will be on a Weezer tribute album) and there are many more things to come (hopefully) we were never meant to be anything big and we thank all for the support and our minimal success, we always thought of AJ as a genius supergroup/sideproject, but if it ends up more than that so be it. Maybe some day we’ll be featured as one of those “lost recordings” that are considered genius (WTF??). Ok i'll shut up now, so thanks for reading, though many of you have already left, so since your not reading this, fuck you.
