Stillness wraps its arms around me...
chirping of crickets magnified by the otherwise sound of quiet...
~~On this porch I find such solace....
the occasional crackling of fallen branches deep in the woods....
~~A deer..racoon?
Or perhaps some creature unknown to me....
~~The music from the earliest birds chime through the screens...
my thoughts are so clear...no intrusions.....
~~The memories of a lifetime sail through my mind...
one lonely teardrop escapes....
~~~I am aware long before the van rolls down the street with its pre-dawn deliveries...
The wonderful taste of coffee heightens my insight.......
~~~The sun begins its gentle ascent....
an eagle soars high...wings outstretched in all of their glory......
~~~Reality...as motors engage and the day begins for the masses....
Duty calls...I pause before I answer...
~~~'Just one more moment' I plead...to drift to some other place..
a mountain peak..an ocean wave.....
~~~'Please...one more moment'....to reflect and recall.....
