| Ebay Reform | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| I agree that ebay needs to be reformed. First step in the reform process is that they have to decide what part of the fence they stand on. Are they just providing neutral space between sellers and buyers?
Or do they also have to police the domain? If ebay insists that they only provide a forum and they don't get involved then why were they pulling some of Alisher's auctions between November 30 and December 3? Ebay can't have it both ways! If they police the auctions and they monitor them and they can pull them, they are responsible if they didn't pull them fast enough. If you just provide a forum then let everyone know that ebay is the Wild West. Anything goes and the fastest (crookedest?) gun wins. Then you go in with your eyes open. Don't use terms like power seller to lure people then leave them at the mercy of predators! Many more people I imagine would choose to keep out if ebay was operating in the Wild West mode. Ebay's shareholders wouldn't like the Wild West model either I assume. So get it ebay! It's either one or the other mode of operation. But not both. When you police your domain you must do it to its fullest extend. Auction rule enforcement policies need reform. To just be a reluctant Wyatt Earp, like ebay is now, is not a good business model. It creates uncertainty to sellers and buyers alike. And to shareholders. Not to mention that it tends to attract people like Alisher 71. Edited by - ebaywitness on 01/04/2006 12:37:07 |
