The Beginning
Eastern Waters was established in 1947 by my parents, the late Janet P. Horn and Dr. Daniel Horn. They were authors of The New Complete Chesapeake Bay Retriever, published in 1994 by Howell Book House. I was raised with Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and have owned them all my life. I have trained, shown and bred Chesapeakes for many years.
When still living at home, I finished champions and put CDs on two of my own dogs. When I was married, and Rupe and I established our own household, we were given a puppy named "Oak" for Christmas. The rest, as they say, is history.
"Oak" became a two-time National Specialty winner and was awarded a ROMQ in 2004 by the American Chesapeake Club. All our dogs go back to "Oak". In 1999 myhusband and I moved from New Jersey to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, near the Chesapeake Bay, in order to bring our dogs "back to their roots".
Rupe and I carry on the Eastern Waters tradition of excellent temperament, trainability and versatility. Our dogs are champions and are titled in obedience, agility, tracking and in the field. They are used for hunting, both upland game and waterfowl. They are members of our family and are truly the All-Around Dog.
At the Farm
Or at a Wedding,
The All-Around Dog!
