St George's Theatre - Gt. Yarmouth
History

St George's Church, which was consecrated in 1715, was built as a chapel of ease to the mother-church of St Nicholas. The interior was very similar to St Clement Danes in London built by Sir Christopher Wren. The church was declared redundant in 1971, when it became an arts centre, and the fine eighteenth century pulpit was moved to St Nicholas's church.

It was used as a church until the 1960s when some of the brickwork was taken from the local parish church. The interesting roof design inside is similar to a hammer-beam roof but was probably brought in from the boat yards with Great Yarmouth being a fishing port.

During the last six years, an administrator within the cast  - saw a physical form move from the stage down the aisle into the auditorium and disappeared towards the bar area, through the double doors at the back.

Three years ago a small rehearsal was taking place, there were two people present, one on stage and one in the lower auditorium.  The cast member on stage heard her name being called (Sheila) twice and has refused to come back.

A couple of tribute rock bands have performed on stage and the music was extremely loud, up until then there hadnt been an atmosphere but this has all since changed after these performances and it is now clear that loud music is not wanted here.
Whilst locking up the atmosphere seems aggressive and the urge to get out as quick as possible without looking back has been felt by the caretakers of the building.

Cold spots have been felt on the balcony indicating to those present that a child was there although never seen or heard but definite presence felt.  Also more cold spots can be felt at the two corners of the balcony.

One cast member was making a cup of tea in the changing room when he noticed a girls reflection in the mirror; this was at 11am in the morning. Her apparition was very clear her hair was in ringlets and she was wearing a green dress and appeared to be around 16 years old. When he turned round she had disappeared.

Also the caretaker reported that children can be heard running around the outside of the seating area through the toilet area through the corridor between the main door and theatre and round into the bar area.

10th June 2005 - Investigation

I arrived at about 8.15pm and walked round to get the feel of the place.

A video camera was set up on the balcony where footsteps have been heard to be walking along. Although for health and safety reasons no members of the public are allowed access to this area as the floor is unsafe. (nothing was found on film).

Another camera was set up in the lighting room looking down into the auditorium and then moved to the ladys changing room. (nothing was found on film).

My camera was placed in a small room to the side of the stage. (Nothing was found on film).

A sance was held in the lady changing room using a dowsing crystal, with several of us linking hands and asking questions. The crystal did seem to respond to the questions being asked. (A bell had been suspended across the door also). This did appear to move occasionally but did not ring. At least not until we had left the room and all members of tonights vigil were accounted for in the auditorium, when the bell was heard ringing vigorously by all of us. One person dashed out with camera in hand to try and capture something. A few orbs were caught on still camera.

A few people there claimed to witness light anomalies whilst sitting in the auditorium but these were not witnessed by myself.

Conclusion
I did feel that something was happening at this venue.

At 3.15am it was decided to finish as it was starting to get light outside.
