Indigo Moods

black moods
blue moods
but man oh man!
ain't nothin like them Indigo moods
when every song
sings your story
every heartbreak
aches with yours
in 3/4 time
when no one calls
and there's nothin on tv
and a sunset
you'd die to see
in any other mood
but these Indigo moods
they last all day
ain't nothin you can do
but let 'em slip away
Meeting You

New day
New face

I wonder how often I'll see
this face in the future
will I look forward to it with smiles
or avoid it with frowns?
shall it become as dear and familiar
as my own
or remain strange
with me struggling to to place it?

So many faces pass through
a persons life
will yours, blue eyes so serious,
remain
or will it drift away with tomorrow?
My Shallow Friend

You are as shallow
as the stream that
runs through my backyard
making a lot of noise
as you tumble over stones
too fast to really know them
never giving enough of yourself
to quench my curiosity.

You ran by me,
I was still and quiet,
and plunged into a ravine.

For the moment you were airborne
I saw your sad eyes and
longed to catch you in a deep pool
and give you peace,
but you rushed smiling to
the floor of the ravine and
I never saw you again.
Not Empty

you've built an idea
of my function in your life
based on the symbology of anatomy
but I am not mpty
I'm not a vessel to be filled
with your concerns and needs
not a container to be put to use
I may seem hollow and flighty to you
my dreams and plans groundless
but let me assure you
that this body carries within
things of substance
objects of worth
filled wit h ideas to be cared for
problems to solve
dreams to nuture
I've made room for others
room to interact
room to help
room to breathe
just because I have allowed you space
do not think of me as passive
for within lurks a dragon
Overlooked

How could you not see me?
Have we never talked?
Have we never laughed?
Your eyes are deep and dark
Did I see thing that weren't there?
Like crystal balls full of midnight
Full of constellations
Did I see your heart?
Or did I want to too badly?

Slow Heartbreak

You and I
we just sit back
getting high
on arcane knowledge.

With good wine and discount chocolate
we dissect heaven, hell, God...

As the night grows rich we dream
of our pasts, presents and futures...

I confess, you conceal.

Dissatisfied, I walk home,
following Orion,
wondering why you never smiled
when you knew I was looking.
So Full

So full of thought,
confused by the serenity,
we sit in silence.

Perfectly content
except for the nagging feeling
that there's so much we
need to say and discover
and the fear that speech
will break the spell.....
