This mountainous northern province is wedged between Luang prabang in the east. Phongsali in the north east, Sayabouri in the south and china sharing a small northern borders. Bokeo has five districts: Houeisay,Ton pheung, Meung, Parktha and Pha-oudom, with 36 townships, more than 400 villages and a total population of 60,000, consiting of many ethnic groups,each with their own lifestyles and customs. The most lucrative occupation in bokeo is gold panning and digging for precious stones.
