6 am getting up for work, sneaking the dogs out. Need less to say I didn’t sleep well, 4 dogs and 4 people in a little hotel room makes for very close quarters. I restrained myself from driving down to Mickey Inn Lane. At work I looked every where for information about whether we could return home or not or what to do. I knew we could stay at the hotel for one more night but what to do after that? Had the water gone down yet? Could I get to the house? My husband called me late after noon and told me that we were able to get into the house. Lauren and Sara had gone down earlier and were able to pull in the drive way. We were very lucky compared to the Abrahams, we had early warnings from friends at PEMA, and they had only us. We knew we could trust the people who were giving us information to be right, they didn’t know if they could or not. They lost EVERYTHING. We lost some things but all most all our papers, etc were put up on the 2nd floor. They don’t have a second floor.
Thursday evening we were able to pull the vans into the driveway and access the damage.
After surveying all the damage we decided to just stay the night at the Motel and come home Friday and start. We still weren’t sure if it was officially okay or not. We opened all the windows and turned on the fans to start the drying out process. Lucky for me we have flood insurance and that I started a claim on Wednesday.
