Camping has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  It is one of the many things I thank my father for introducing me to.  Since he was Scoutmaster of troop 131 in Wayne, NJ, I was lucky enough to venture out on their trips before I was old enough to join the troop.  But I was hooked from that point.  Whether it was a week-end trip with the scouts or a month long venture at summer camp in Conn.  Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall it just didn't matter as long as I was out in the woods.

However, something happened to me over the past dozen years or so and I stopped going camping.  Maybe it was just part of growing up where some things become less important and others more so.  I'm not sure what it was  but I decided it was time to get back to what I love before I couldn't do it any more. I therefore got together a group of my friends and we began making trips to the surrounding mountains.  It was good to be back.

We made several trips together before I purchased the trail guide  and map for the
Foothills Trail and began to plan a series of trips for over the next few years.  Due to families and work and such, we only have a few week-ends a year we can plan for .  It was decided to make these at the end of April and the end of October.  It works for us and we get to see the wilderness before it disapears.

I can only hope that everyone will teach their children to respect the forests and take care of them.  You were able to enjoy it, let's make sure our children can enjoy it too!

Please know the regulations of the area you intend to camp.  Some places REQIURE you to pack out EVERYTHING.  This includes feces.  Although it is not required in most places, you should at least know the proper way to dispose of waste in the wilderness.
