| How can you pack in a good meal? I mean the things we want don't always fit in the pack. I have packed in a frozen steak. By the time it we were ready for the evening meal, I had a thawed steak ready for flame! This works with hamberger also. For backpacking, I find that the MRE's work best for a main course. Meals Ready to Eat provide a main entree, side snack, dessert, gum, candy, condiments, spoon, drink mix, and coffee. Some even come with a heater to cook the meals. All you need is some water and you can eat hot without a pot or a fire! David, Kenny, and I go for the MRE's. Greg goes for soups and rice mixtures. They smell great and he says they taste wonderful. |

| For me, breakfast was always easy. Cream of Wheat or oatmeal was always easiest. I have tried some of the MRE breakfasts and did not have much success finding what I wanted. One trip, Wayne and Rick brought eggs. They looked and smelled wonderful. Our last trip I used the Apex II stove to make pancakes. Bisquick has a small container you add water to, shake, and pour. Awsome! I made eight large pancakes. With the little travel bottles I bought, I was able to bring syrup and oil. (I did also put these in a Ziplock bag!) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| A few trips ago, Greg introduced me to tuna. Now I have seen people bring a can of tuna backpacking. But this tuna was in a bag. I was thrilled. Tunafish and crackers for lunch and no can! This became a staple in my pack. I also like the potted meat and crackers. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
